Team PM!

This is such a wonderful idea. Even without the Team Signature, I'm wondering if it's safe to assume the people supporting this idea would be willing to send/accept PM's from others on the thread who support it. Perhaps even make a post just listing those who would want to be part of the team, then we could start without waiting for anything "official" looking?

I'd like to think so. Making sex a taboo subject on an (essentially) sexual forum seems a bit odd....

Right. How else is a person able to start a private conversation on here w/o sending an "uninvited" PM? I send unsolicited PM's all the time... Although, I am a complete failure at promptly replying... (then I wait until it's too embarrassingly late and I think, "Forget it... shit, they won't even remember pm-ing...")
When my PM reply-groove is really on, I'll send a simple, "No, thank you" or a "Nice try", often I say, "Thanks, but no thanks"... to PMs of no interest. If the person is nice about it... whatever their request... I try to respond. (note: there is no "try" in life; I either do it, or I don't... you know?)
I'm an unreliable reply-er, I'm afraid. Don't take it personal...
I just saw Lorelei's taboo post. Totally! What is that? Oxymoron? Paradox? Ironic, for sure...

You know that people rarely seem to read the profiles anymore right? I've had the "married, not looking for anything" in my profile since I started and people still send me a message asking if I want to show them my cam or cyber with them.
A nice PM has never hurt anyone
It does always help to stop wanking for a minute and think of something proper to write though!

I haven't seen Kozuka for a while -- he offered to create a template for a signature. Would anyone else like to try? I'd suggest that it's based on Lorelei's idea of a shield-shape (like a badge) with the PM sign on it:
I'd suggest that the graphic needs to be quite small (perhaps no more than two smilies in height) so that it doesn't elongate people's signatures to an annoying extent.
I like the idea of being able to add a personalised strapline alongside the sign (e.g. "I welcome respectful PMs" or something else tailored to individual taste).
Are there any other ground rules that we need to agree, or is "Team PM" simply a loose confederation of Listers that enjoy receiving PMs?

It's great to see so many people embracing this concept! When _Lorelei_ first mentioned the idea, I thought that she had something new and inspiring, so I was keen to give it a little push to see whether others agreed. It seems that they do!
I hope that "Team PM" will lead to many friendly conversations taking place that might otherwise never have happened. Would anyone like to report back on early successes (with the other participant in the exchange of PMs kept anonymous if appropriate)?
I'm now imagining snappy endorsements along the lines of:
"When I first joined the Lit forum, I never had Private Message conversations with anyone. Team PM changed all that for me!"

Finally joining the ranks here, and adding the "badge" that Mindfondler had mentioned. With American football underway and the baseball playoffs as well, I thought that team jerseys sounded nice. When I first came here I was really scared of sending an unsolicited PM. It seemed almost...rude??
Even now I am polite and apologise for sending a PM off to someone. I would like to join your merry band and add it to my sig.
I always reply to PMs in a polite and respectful manner... And I can be porny with the best if they deserve it!
