a few of mine, diversity and regrets included

today's short on nerk's ku thread

cries in the night
waves rush, break,
sea foam on black rock

just adding that last short

ice-broken
moments melt
as vodka-tongues explore

dug fingers into turf
rabbit-soft and just as sprung
hoping to find a poem

pulled loose a flap
exposing dull-dry dirt

no poem there
not even a worm

dig fingers into turf
rabbit-soft and just as sprung
looking for a poem

pull loose a flap
expose dull-dry dirt

no poem there
not even a worm

I think I prefer "dug":) I did wonder if you needed the penultimate line as it is so implied? Btw, put new poem up a couple of days ago.

Did I send you this link?

i think you did, and i know i've been insanely busy either here, getting school stuff ready or working - been covering some extra days, too, as the asst. mngrss is off now for months. again, i will find time - soon

the worm hunt

over on the general board
it's rum to watch the sometimes fun
someone sprinkles words around
like tapping turf, the worms will come

to the surface, to the light
then lift the turf, the work is done
some will hoard them, some ignore
but worms, exposed, will writhe - unsure

That's gorgeous--the metaphor continues to bear fruit :rose:

hehehe - inspired by those wriggly li'l alts there  but if it wasn't for that gen board ref, it would be a far better tiddly-pom, with words being worms. still, i was in a less charitable, though smiling, mood.

I've never understood the alts thing--in the sense that it feels childish :rose:

Hello S :)

good to see you about. Far as alts go, the first person I came upon to use them so extensively was smithpeter. He had a mood and a style for every one of his. I don't think you were around then, good ole days ;) :rose:

i think everything depends upon the intent behind using one, doesn't it? some people using them over on the general board do it to hide behind facades in order to express views or attack other posters, even to support their own username's viewpoints in polls! then there are those who are witty and creative with them, and don't use them maliciously. they can be great fun, but i've never had the time or inclination to make one myself. sounds like this smithpeter guy, and i've heard great things about his writing, used them as a way of developing characters' voices?

i've often used different 'characters' in poems, writing from their pov, which might directly be opposed to my own in some cases.

I just prefer to be the usual boring, prosaic fridayam, who can't be bothered with the politics involved in alts

tsk tsk, i've never found our conversations - and certainly never your writing - anything near to prosaic and boring

Oh, this is great! :)

I must share it with neci...

oh holy crap, found this one from 8 years ago. it says a lot about the marriage i was in at the time, and i guess it was sort of to some heavy metallish music in my head. lordy

crowman

lick my open eyes
cos the crowman's come
lick my open thighs
when the crowman's done

spread those tattered pinions wide
blink that swift grey wink, death-eyed
tilt that shining head just a little offside
summon from within all that's been said
cold slabs of meat to dress your buttered bread

yeah, lick my open wounds
cos the crowman's come
flick those shabby runes
having crowman's fun

carrion fan come pick the shreds
don't be shy cos i'm not kicking
just laying stiff as death here on our bed
that savage breath of life still hidden
lick lick licking thru my flesh unbidden

c'mon now
lick my open eyes like a crowman's son
lick my sweet surprise
with your crowman's tongue
life's a party
death's a ball
get over the smell
cos it comes to us all
crowman lick the putrid fruit
rotten to the very core
lick this dish of flies and shoot
but the crowman's never satisfied
crowman he'll want
crowman will want
crowman still wants
more
