Story Critique Queue

Do we have anyone who wishes to put up a story for discussion? The Queue is open at the moment.
 
Hi!

I have a short story that I wrote as my final for a fiction writing class (non-erotic). I got an A on it but I was hoping for some more opinions/critiques.

Ok, I realize that makes me sound like a teenager, but it was a college course and I'm 32. ;-)

I posted this to the story feedback forum, and my one reply was a suggestion that I get on this queue. I thought I'd give it a shot.

Please pardon the delay. We forum moderators are unpaid volunteers with real lives too and sometimes it turns out we all have to put the SDC on the back burner at the same time.

I'm not sure why you'd imagine you sound like a teenager? That would be something like, "Hi! Want to read about the threesome with me and my teacher and the hottest cheerleader at my school? It all started when Miss Zeppelins caught me and Virginia Snugtwat drinking beer in her car."

I'll second Penelope in saying sorry for the delay! I had a round of the stomach virus go through my house and then Christmas was upon us, so I've been rather distracted for the last several days! Glad Penelope saw your post. :)

Critique

Hi peeps.

First off, please forgive my ineptitude if I have misconstrued how I should go about getting in the que to have my 'first story' critiqued. I am new to the site so am perhaps not quite as familiar with how things are done; though I did read the faq regards entering the que so shall do my best to not stray from the rules. If I've 'blahed', please whip me lol.

The story in question I have already requested feedback for in the 'feedback forum', but thus far have only recieved one reply. It may well be that posting my story just prior to Xmas played a role in the limited responses, or alternativly because it is lengthy people may be less incliend to read it so quickly after posting, but I still do hope to recieve some more robust feedback if some people would like to take the time.

Perhaps if and once I do enter the 'que' a moderator will start a 'critique thread'? Again, I reiterate that I am ignorant on these issues for the most part.

I am encouraged that my vote score is 4.86(7 votes only) so at least that is something huh?

It is called 'Voyeur', and is posted in the 'Novella' section and consists of approximatly 20K words. Keep in mind that this is only a 1st chapter in what may become a novel if I decide to continue with it.

Hi, the queue is the sign up thread for the critiques. Right now, we have someone in front of you. Once Star's discussion is over, it will be your turn if you wish to participate (moving OBM to the end since the last discussion just finished), and you will then create your own thread. One of the mods (me or Penelope, likely) post in this thread when it's time for the next discussion to go up. Star's will be starting soon.
 
If Existencialisticism doesn't pop back in, OBM, you can get ready to put your next one up in the next day or so if you still want to.
 
I've popped back in, no pun intended.

Does this mean I can start a discussion thread about my story Crimson? If I do start the thread, should I just follow 'Stars' format type approach? Ie Name of story, date etc?

Critique of an excerpt possible?

Hey there!

I've just come across this part of the board: woha! So I've read the sticky notes but still I'm not completely sure whether it's also possible to request some critique on an excerpt of a story not posted yet on lit?

You see, if it's permitted to just post an excerpt I would like to enqueue! The excerpt's total length is around 2k words, so it's less than one lit-page, but I could split or shorten it, too. It's probably a piece of 'erotic horror' (no vampires or werewolves).

Well, I look forward to an answer of one of the mods.

Thus am I right in thinking, I can enqueue? If so then this is my 'official' application for a discussion/critique of my text.

Just one more question: How do I know when there'll be time and space for opening the discussion? (As I see, there's one critique going on right now and some posts prior to me there was someone else I -- shame on me -- cannot remember who also wanted to open a discussion, am I right?)

Actually it was quiet amusing to read the stickies as they emphasized that discussing a piece here isn't for the faint-hearted. ;)

I'd love to get in on this. I have two stories i'd like commented, i've chosen the first one I want commented on though. Its a Group Sex story that received a 4.52 but only 1 comment! I'd like to get this one critqued :D
 
So the current queue is Auden, Acal, and then OBM. OBM, this is the last time you are getting bumped, so once Acal is done, you can bring your next one.

Danka's still likes a few days being up for two weeks, so I'm going to give it a little bit more time before we start a new discussion.
