~President Obama, regarding Hurricane Isaac.

...implying that other times are the time to tempt fate.

WTF is wrong with this country ?

Seriously.

Their are apparently thousands of summer lifeguarding jobs that go unfilled by U.S. teens. The fact that U.S. teens don't (won't?) apply for these jobs forces companies in the business of providing lifeguards to RECRUIT young people from abroad to do the work.

This is not hearsay. This summer, my local pool had two (2) lifeguards from Ukraine and one (1) from Belarus (Byelorussia).

The U.S. has, apparently, gotten so fat and dumb that our own kids won't do this work. It's beyond my comprehension. Kids used to be delighted to do this kind of work. WTF is going on?

Cool. Get wet, then.

Home and allergic and recovering from the jet lag, yes.

This pic doesn't make sense to me. Is the sidewalk built above the roadway so as to the skew the perspective of the pedestrians relative to the kayakers?

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. You may have heard of me

The sidewalk is built up, then the market walkway is built up above that...specifically because of flooding...we've done 2 major renovations to the market in the last 2 years...not sure what all this has done to the renovated areas...I am quite sure I will be getting calls from the Market folks in the morning or later this week at least, to start repairs on a few things...

But to see how deep it is, look at the parking meter in the foreground...

Laurel is soft.

She banned Molly when she could have flogged her.
