Radio Shack is still indispensable. Eight years ago, I bought a digital stopwatch. I dunno what it cost. I was actually looking for a good old mechanical stopwatch to time my running but I couldn't find one so I had to settle for the goddamn digital POS.
Predictably (or unpredictably), two months ago the battery died. I started looking at runners watches. The fuckers want $50/$100 for 'em. It's a fucking ginormous ripoff. I'll be goddamned if I was going to pay that kind of money for one. I started trying to get the battery compartment of my digital stopwatch open. It's a tiny, tiny Phillips screw. I couldn't find a Phillips screwdriver that small and I didn't want to strip the goddamn thing.
Enter Radio Shack.
I walked in the store, explained the problem and in two shakes of a lamb's tail, the clerk produces the right tool, opens the battery compartment and produces the correct replacement battery. I finish the job while standing at the counter.
Elapsed time: 10 minutes
Total cost: $6.38
Problem solved.
you're fucking weird.
