Having just turned 18, a young man is given a recorded message from the father he never knew with a shocking revelation: His father was a "cultural observer" who was not of this earth and forced to leave by his superiors after getting an earth woman pregnant.

In the recording, his father explains that, despite being half-human, the young man will likely inherit his father's people's abilities. The father decided it was better to explain how they could work, rather than risk him discovering accidentally on his own and being confused.

One of which is the power to mentally "pause" someone, essentially giving them a mental command to freeze in place (save for breathing and occasionally blinking). During this state, they're essentially in a trance and have no memory of it when they're released. (Due to the concentration involved, it can only be done to one person at a time).

The second half of the power is that, while paused, a subject is susceptible to suggestion. If verbally told to do something, while paused, upon released, the subject will do it, think it was their own idea.

The son, suspicious, decides to test the abilities in the safety of his own home, which leaves the only person he lives with, his mother, to be his unwitting guinea pig.

Over the next couple of days, he freezes her off and on at first, then eventually tries a few harmless suggestions. Once, while freezing her, he can't help but notice how attractive she is and starts to feel her up a bit. From there, he eventually compels her to dress a bit sexier, showing off her legs and such, and eventually being more affectionate to him...

(I think you know where I'm going with this).
 
I love time stop stories. I always think they are best when they move slowly and build. Maybe he learns of his new power but has to train before he can really use it.

He starts of being able to freeze his mom for a few seconds and keeps practicing. He is able to feel something when he has her in freeze mode so he can sense how much control he has.

He could discover that there are things that make her more susceptible like maybe after s few glasses of wine, when she's tired or when she is paying attention to something else like a book or TV.

I love the idea of making her dress sexier. What if he has a half-sister (a different dad means she has no power) who is away at college, he gets his mom to start wearing the sisters clothes which are more risqué and much tighter. While picking out an outfit he might find a vibrator and decides to make his mom show him how to use it.

Later on the sister could. One home for a weekend visit and she becomes his next target.

There are a lot of fun directions that this story could go in before he turns his mom into his personal on-demand sex slave.

This is essentially the MindControl genre and IMHO such need to have a cost for the controller. Each MC (time stop) event should do something to the guy -- shorten his life, or lower his IQ, or shrink his erection, or give him splotches or itches, something like that. Cost-free MC is IMHO for drama-free strokers.

The cost could lead to comedy or tragedy or absurdity or maturity. Let's see, whenever he stops time, he ages faster himself. After stopping Mom enough, he's her age, heh heh. Does he become a Daddy figure to his sister?

Sure. Actually, I like the idea, outside of one thing: Him physically touching her. However, I have an idea I think you may like to replace that...

What if he gives her suggestions mentally, but no physical touching? However, the suggestions he gives her are just to find him attractive (or next male she sees, which would be him). However, when she unfreezes & follows the suggestion, she takes it further than he meant/anticipated, & he is unable to control/stop her?
 
I generally like premises like this but like Hypoxia said, the conflict needs to be there for anything more than a stroker.

What if every time he uses his ability it shows up on the radar of a secret organisation created to combat these extraterrestrial powers. At first it only shows up as little more than static since he's still crappy at it, but the better he gets, the more attention it garners. What happens when he gets good enough that it can no longer be ignored? Cue strike squad to either eliminate or capture. Maybe there's a resistance who intervenes/rescues him?

I like the idea of this group of power-wielding aliens/mutants/anomalies being shitbags who wants to rule the world but the protagonist doesn't realise it until he's in the thick of it, prompting him to switch sides and working with the secret organization.

It'd need a climax though.

I don't necessarily see the climax as necessary as some might.

Perhaps, if it needs something, mother notices she has increased feelings/actions around son, but doesn't know explanation. Therefore, she alerts local group to watch him (stakeout-style or something). Then, he has to continue life while avoiding group without knowing why they're following him? (Don't like idea of trying to kill the guy, or anything as wild as interplanetary or international.)
 
I really like the idea of her thinking the ideas were hers. I agree he shouldn't touch her while frozen, maybe look, to learn about a woman's body, but I like the idea of her seducing him as a result of his suggestions. Her taking his suggestions too far, this could be the price of his control that any suggestion he makes going further than he originally planned.
 
I love the idea of her running with his suggestions too much and then being the one to seduce him. The dilemma with that is that it shortens the story. If he programs her to think the next man she sees is the sexiest man alive she would jump his bones pretty quickly not seduce him slowly. I suppose that could be remedied by having him program her with something relatively innocuous that snowballs...

But if he doesn't touch her while she is frozen then why frame this as a time stop story? It would be simpler to do as a basic MC story. He doesn't have to rape her but he could still have some fun while she is frozen. Maybe he starts off adjusting her into silly positions or something like that. Then he accidentally touches her breast and that gets him thinking.

you make some good points, I agree that there has to be some use for pausing her, perhaps watching porn or masterbating that's how he can get away with these things?

That's what I figured. Him freezing and posing her a bit in funny ways and laughing at her confusion when he unfreezes her.

Maybe one of the poses is inadvertantly kind of sexy. Maybe, while posing her arms and legs, she's wearing shorts and realizes he kind of likes feeling her thighs.

I did want to keep this story relatively simple.

I needn't post a disagreement, as this is self-contradictory. Personally, I can do either of those without watching anyone I know or who is even in the same nation. There is no reason, therefore, for them to pause the parent to do either of these things.

I like the idea of it being a slow build too. I don't think it's necessary to introduce a half-sister or anyone else. Just keep it simple. I do like the idea of him making her change up her wardrobe a bit. It could start out as something silly: Just making her wear some out-of-style clothes she never wears anymore, but inadvertently putting her in, say a short dress or skirt.

What does it cost him to exercise this control?

One way to do that is to limit his control. He gives gentle suggestion and she goes I've board with it. Or he isn't able to keep her frozen long time enough at first and gets caught in an awkward situation and has to make up a story about what is going on.

I like the lack of perfect control angle. It also allows for some humor and tension.
 
I like these suggestions. I agree with you that lack of control in some way would serve as a nice limit

yeah agreed. it has to take effort, otherwise the "target" is just a sex doll and its not sexy at all to me.

i think the sexiest "mind control" stories are when the main character can only make very subtle suggestions gradually.

like for instance in a mom/son story: son thinks "we need to save money on water" at his mom for a couple of weeks & eventually shes cool with showering with him but still not having sex. that takes a whole series of suggestions.

I don't think there necessarily needs to be a "price". Perhaps it's enough that there are some awkward stumbles along the way, as he learns how to control his powers.

I'm fine with mind control being somewhat gradual, as he learns to master that too.

Exactly. He isn't trading a piece of his would every time he does it but he does make mistakes and learns along the way. That also sets the stage for some humor and tension building.

I agree that slower is better. It doesn't start out with a sexual angle but that builds as he finds himself realizing that his mom is beautiful and also now available to him. He starts off with a crisis of conscience but has to rationalize it to himself before letting anything happen. Once he realizes that he can make it so that she doesn't remember anything that happens when she is under then he could decide that it is ok.

Perhaps because he's half-human, the "program" part is kind of limited and has to do it one step at a time (and "recharge" himself, so to speak, because he can't do it one right after another).

-Or, since he doesn't really date, she's programmed to suggest using her as a sort of "practice" date and eventually a "practice" girlfriend.

What is it starts out just by pausing and then he discovers that he can implant suggestions. He starts off slowly with each pause getting longer. Then one day he catches her in a revealing position - like she could be getting out of the shower. He pauses her and sees her in her panties and bra. He realizes that this pause is lasting longer as he is focusing his concentration more intently. While she is frozen he remembers a particular outfit of hers, maybe an old Halloween costume or a super shirt or tight dress. He thinks to himself how much he wishes she would just put that on. He takes a final look at his near naked Mom and then leaves before releasing her. To his surprise she actually puts on that outfit.

The outfit is really sexy but not something she would ever just wear around the house so he asks her about it and she replies that she hasn't worn it in a long time and just wanted to have fun.

He thinks it was because of him but he's not quite sure. The next time he pauses her he tests it out again. But to make sure it's definitely not a coincidence he has to really push the limits. He decides to tell her to strip down to just her bra and panties but that she will think it's perfectly normal and that she is actually wearing the same outfit as before.

After seeing that suggestion work he starts to understand the full extent of his power. However each time he pauses her it takes a lot out of him. So he needs to wait between each pause and that also explains why he can't just do that to everyone all the time.

Definite issue there. "Since he doesn't really date", not sure of probability of sex/physicality being involved, & likelihood is local female with same sort/amt. of experience that he would prefer to mutually practice with so not guilty of having programmed mother into physical act of incest.
