I am a bit the same, i.e bi-curious but shit scared of disease.

By definition, anyone who will hook up for a quick fling (bi or straight) is promiscuous. Male homosexual promiscuous sex comes with a risk due to the swapping body fluids. The incurable, fatal disease thing is inconvenient enough. But, in addition, it doesn't show up until some time later, by which time you've had plenty of time to infect your wife, g/f or whomever.
