Hey writers!
I'm just getting into writing a story (currently just for personal use, maybe someday for public consumption). I want the descriptions I give to seem realistic, but some of the things I'm writing about are ones that I've never done/felt but am curious about. I'd also like the man's point of view on a few things. Would anyone be willing to help me out with the writing by telling me about their experiences? I don't intend to quote directly (but would absolutely credit you if I did), just looking for inspiration. Please message privately if you can help me!
Thanks!

You'll get a good idea

Watch porn!

Also, it'd help if you'd specify a little more what you're looking for. Anal sex? Different positions? Sex outdoors? Getting head while driving 90 mph down the freeway?

Or you could post on the Personals forum. There seem to be a lot of guys on that board who are looking for a woman to swap private messages with. I'm sure you can find someone willing to give you a male perspective about any question you have.

As someone who has made movies in the past albeit not any porn ones that I can recall(!) - I don't agree that porn is 'not realistic;' some of it is very realistic, some less so and some is clearly incompetently made or way at the bizarre end of things when it comes to 'realism.'

At the same time, it is certainly true that audio-visual depictions of sex have produced stylistic parameters that most people recognize as 'porn' but it is difficult to argue this is altogether 'not realistically' sex, since it springs from people's interpretations of what is sexual and is driven either by the producer's own sexual motivations or their reflections of the sexual motivations of other people along particular lines of interest.

No, watching porn is not necessarily a flawed idea in this context.

Porn provides 'a' range of ideas which yes, require to be approached with some caution on many bases, but nonetheless they represent a number of people's ideas about sex.

Porn also mostly has a necessarily restricted time frame over which to depict things especially seduction (whether the art part or the science part or ANY part of it!) and actual romance or even extended matters ultimately linked with sex - principally, of course, family/children/work.

Answering the OP, I'd suggest that you just read. There are thousands of stories on this site that answer your question very effectively. A response here, typed out in a couple of minutes, is nowhere near as encompassing as a story that somebody has put hours or days or weeks into writing. Let alone a couple of hundred stories.

So go and read read read. Find authors whose stories match the sort of things you're interested in and read them. You'll find whatever you're interested in here if you look. You have to do your own research for stuff like this. There's no easy "give it to me on a plate" solution, as you'll find out.

I've been where you were. Writing for myself and struggling. I found the best way to start was to actually take someone else's story that I really liked and use that as a starting point and rewrite it in my own words. When you're starting out and learning, that can be a good approach to learning the basics. Not sure if that was what you were looking for in the way of suggestions but good luck with your writing and ....

.... there is no easy in writing. You have to do it yourself, you really do. Somewhere like here is great for asking questions but you still need to do your own groundwork.

There are important lessons to be learned from bad stories too. Identifying what you don't want to do is equally important. :)

Plus, there are many bad stories based on ideas that have possibilities. I often encounter stories here with nifty premises but prose or characters so bad I feel encouraged to try to make something better of the concept.
