I've been enjoying this song recently—an oldie but goldie.

Larkin Poe - Preachin' Blues
Sometimes
Good and Gone

Grazie.

A David Bowie classic - it's hard to beat his original.

I may have posted this here if so, my apologies.

Let's Get This Show on the Road - Michael Stanley Band

Give it a listen to at least about 4 minutes in when the sax comes in.

Not a bad song, just not feeling it. But thank you.

Here's tonight's samplier:

Once you get to know the bartender, then you'll get the good stuff

Aoife O'Donovan - beautiful voice - went with Magic Hour
Amsterdam... love song, kinda. :p
Humble Pie - For your love - it unnerved my cat.
Joss Stone - good voice, I'll have to look into her. I'm a bit tired of that particular song though.
Chris Beard - not feeling it but thank you.

if you have netflix you can more than clips of the IT crowd. it's a classic. made by the same guy who did father ted which is also insane and fucking hilarious. sadly, it's on britbox and i don't have that.

also, i like the absurdity. it makes me happy.

It's an absurd world.

Joe Satriani FLYING IN A BLUE DREAM
Gary Hoey ENDLESS SUMMER PART 2 SOUNDTRACK

Satriani - too much guitar.

Gary Hoey - Endless Summer - sounds oddly similar to Satriani song. Less guitar though.

yeah, nothing like an upbeat song about doing heroin.

If you eliminate any songs about drugs you will have a short play list.

Iggy pop lust for life - I believe that was what was posted here. Heroin bad. Song good.

Hopefully I'll be back after dinner to do the rest.

I need some more music to add to my collection for my flight. Music on flights is a godsend.

The Smashing Pumpkins, largely known as a dour grunge-adjacent act, quietly released the surprisingly upbeat "Oceania" six or seven years ago.

Honestly, the album is better than it has any right to be, given the work he's put out under that name in the surrounding decade. I return to it fairly often.

Of particular interest, given the interest in upbeat, not guitar driven music, are 'One diamond, one heart,' 'Pinwheels,' and 'The chimera.'

David Bowie's pentultimage album was really solid, too. 'The next day.' The song 'The Stars Are Out Tonight' is worth a listen, as is 'Dirty Boys.'

Smashing Pumpkins - One Diamond, One Heart - love song.
Pinwheels - another love song
The Chimera... yeah inconsistency is what it can be. I like this one.
David Bowie - Stars are Out... not feeling it.
Dirty Boys... that does not not sound pleasant.

In A Crisis

"I rode my bicycle by her house
She was gardening in the dark
Singing to the green beans and the beets
She was wearing her high heels
Chopping the high weeds, dealing out life and death
And I wrote down every single thing she said

And she said, the spirits of the earth
Are so hungry for justice, they cry
And the spirits of the sky
Are with us tonight and they cry

In a crisis we cut away
What we don't need anymore
In the good times we fight our way
We fight our way inside"

-Jefferson Starship, Jefferson's Tree of Liberty

Starship - Crisis... Not quite my sound, but thank you anyway.

Dear jaF0,

Always a pleasure to hear an old favorite.

From the '60s, Quicksilver Messenger Service - "Mona"

Mona - I've looked at that one in the past, thank you no.

I've been enjoying this song recently—an oldie but goldie.

Kool & The Gang - Hollywood Swinging... not bad, just not feeling it but thank you.

Karla Bonoff - Someone to Lay Down Beside Me - um... that's not very upbeat at all.

Larkin Poe is my favorite new band. This cut might appeal to your tastes: https://youtu.be/NOx0wyEG0bE

Larkin Poe - Black Betty. I did grab several of their songs but oddly enough this is one song I have never particularly liked.

Bagpiping - AC/DC actually plays pretty well in bagpipes, also fiddles. However I am using amazon and google music and if I can't find it in either place then it's not much help.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - You Worry Me - I like it. Added. Grazie!

Eh.. this thread still lives.

Yes, so far. And I'm glad. I've really got some kick ass music from this thread.

Nathanial Rateliff - Need Never Get Old - I like the sound of it but another love song, well of sorts. Obession? Ha.
Whisky in the jar - can't find it on Amazon

Ellie Goulding, Diplo, Swae Lee

https://youtu.be/YESpUqrKwS8

Ellie Goulding - I like her voice, although that song doesn't appeal to me. And she does a lot of long songs. But to be fair... as I've seen, there are a lot of artists that do.

Sex Pistols... um no.

a prefect song for our Ms. Adrina

"I Know You Don't Love Me"

Caro Emerald - You Don't Love Me - Um... I'm not really sure how to take this dedication.

In any event I have a bit of her music already thank you.

little techno, mystic music of Dead can Dance?
https://youtu.be/aiDNf8trWn8

or Bjork...always Bjork.
https://youtu.be/KDbPYoaAiyc
https://youtu.be/AGjGh74n_9U

upbeat? cant forget GF Handel's Water Music

https://youtu.be/2tVmjN1y0Ek

Strauss Blue Danube :)
https://youtu.be/zZ8WN0KEVoU

Bjork - Human Behavior - Not sure, thinking about it.
Isobel - I don't think so, but thank you.

Handel - Water Music... a bit long.

Blue Danube - it's nice but not quite feeling it, but thank you.

------

Thank you everyone. :)

Still looking for more upbeat non love songy music.

[En Otros Lugares]
La Danza del Pañuelo is also good.

[Chacarero]
another good song.

Yeah I'm going to have to hear that one a few more times.

Thanks, rostasi.

I was going to post some Telmary, but some other time. People should instead listen to rostasi's 2nd pick (Chacarero).

Some I have found recently:
X Ambassadors - Boom
Michael Franti & Spearman - I'm Alive
The Record Co - A Life to Fix
Alice Merton - Why So Serious, No Roots etc

I went through my Dead phase already.

Raindrops are falling on my head - I loved that song as a child. I even had a music box doll with it. This version however did not really do much for me. Thank you anyway.

Lake Street Dive - You Go Down Smooth - I like the sound of it. Kind of a bit love songy in a way but not sappy. Selected. Grazie.

Lake Street Dive - Rich Girl. Was never much of a fan of that song. But thank you.

I'm not exactly sure what I am supposed to be looking at. I googled the various terms and got acoustic guitar music. Not bad but limited in appeal to me. Thank you though.

I've spent the last month going through all kinds of new stuff from Jazz to New Age to Doom Metal and everywhere in between including Prog Rock, Classic Rock, Folk/Jazz, Standards, Fusion Jazz ....

The Mind Wobbles.....

I just stumbled across the X Ambassadors today. I've been on a big Grandson kick recently and was listening to "Grandson Radio" on Spotify and a song of X Ambassadors came on.

Grandson - Overdose

Weeble Wobble but they don't fall down.

My error.

I should have added to click the pic.

Sorry.

Now I get it. Well I did listen to it - not quite my speed. However a song came on afterwards that I thought was enjoyable.

That's not very upbeat. :p

The adult alternative music station on cable has some good music - that's where I found several of my new selections. They can get a bit repetitious though.

It was the first one that popped up when I did a search. But yeah, upon reflection, they aren't real upbeat. Keeps me awake at work though.
