Tax the Rich?

Oh, that's easy. The tax system was drawn up by Christians taking lessons from the Bible, which says that those who contribute more will receive more blessings in return. The churches expect people to tithe, but the government only collects what people are able to pay.

Are you serious?

Evangelicals support Trump and the Rs 90%. The vast majority of Rs in Congress are self-professed good Christians.

Jesus says to help the poor and needy.

He also said it is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than to get into heaven.

Oh WAIT! That religious posing is all a bunch of hypocritical bullshit, when it comes to the tax code. You didn't think they meant all that, did you?

Are you serious?

The 600 lb gorilla in the room is that income taxes were originally ruled to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, which is why it required the XVI'th Amendment to enact them (an amendment to the constitution to make the unconstitutional constitutional, just like prohibition). So the real answer is to repeal the XVI'th Amendment, just like prohibition was also repealed, and turn the responsibility for funding of the Federal government over to the states, thereby restoring the concept of checks and balances. No longer could the Federal government impose its will upon the states by threatening them with 'giving' them funding that already came from the citizens of those very states in the first place. And yes, that also means shuttering the IRS, ending the reign of terror of the ilk of Lois Lerner and her band of and brand of thugs.

It would also end the country's ability to defend itself in the world. I declare that you knotheads can't see beyond the end of your noses.

Maybe you could manage to repeal and replace this time.

I've yet to see anyone come up with an argument as to why it's fair for only half the workforce to pay all of the federal income taxes (something the pending tax legislation does not fix, incidentally). The left tends to define "fair" in terms of equality. Should not all workers pay a more equal share of taxes?

The US government has always been guided by Biblical principles. Nobody in office will ever tell you any different.

While your argument has a certain internal logic, in the end it fails. You ignore the First Amendment, which mandates that governments in the USA "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."

Thus, you cannot bring "Biblical principles" into this debate. (Unless you are willing to let "Biblical principles" guide all governmental policy, which I am not; are you?) So, again: What is your basis in the case of income taxes for not treating everyone with more equality?

The Supreme Court is filled with Christians, and has been from day one.

Christians want tax rates to favor poor people.
Abundance Gospel Xians want tax codes that favor those blessed with wealth by Lord {JHWH}. Of course that totally violates the supposed sayings of Yeshua bir Miryam. Thus any supposed Xian who promotes the wealthy is a Satanic heretic destined for a fiery afterlife. Have a cigar.

In other words, given that the argument you make violates the First Amendment, you do not have a legitimate argument for the way the current income tax code has the top 1% paying 39.5% of taxes, and the top 50% paying essentially all income taxes.

Put simply, there is no legitimate reason for the income tax code not treating everyone with more equality.

Look at that.....the very mention of a more fair and equitable tax system sends the lefties into a fit.

I thought you bunch of left wing bullshitters were all about equality......

But the lot of your are ideologically inconsistent and moral degenerates so it doesn't surprise me much that when it comes to actual equality and paying your fair share there is a bunch of crying.

I've outlined a more fair and equitable tax system but you and Dawn got fucking triggered as soon as your heard "rich people should pay" and got your asses handed to you. It wasn't even worth commenting on after a while.

As always,

I find it all rather laughable that the big government loving lefties want higher taxes without basis of a justifiable government need for the usurped wages of the successful, which they do in the name of ‘Christianity ‘, still seemingly unaware that Jesus was no particular fan of big government or their taxation, having been gruesomely crucified by that self same government. You might even say he thought the government was corrupt and had a wee too much power?

I thought it was obvious. Do you know any Christians?

Income tax rates DO favor poor people. Most poor people don't pay any at all. In addition, wealthy people are allowed to deduct less of their medical expenses.

No, you've got it wrong.

Since when are Dems the party of evangelical Christians? Um, never.

I'm merely pointing out that if the REPUBLICAN Christian hypocrites want to live up the bullshit they use to pander to the Biblical fools in this country, the rich would be driven out. Jesus was a socialist, as far as I can tell.

I’m not saying that’s how it should be; I’m saying that’s how it is.

You can't fight men-pretending-to-be-women-on-the-internet-white supremacists with facts and reality!

There's a zero percent chance that it knows corporations have been paying a smaller and smaller percentage of taxes since the 1950s. Or that many major companies went years without paying any taxes at all.

Or that even though the rich do pay 50% of taxes in this country their effective tax rate was only 25.7%. Only off by 13.8%!

Isn't that the charitable thing to do or do you mean something else?

Actually I know quite a few. But I don't usually discuss Religion, politics or taxes with them.
Yes, it is the charitable thing to do. Some say that the tax code is a giant social program, and so it is. Any effort to change it to a fairer system without beefing up other social programs at the same time is the uncharitable thing to do.

LOL then you clearly have never read the definition of socialism.
