Reviews of bad movies

"Meet the Feebles."

A glorious production, by the now legendary Peter Jackson. The first film he ever did and it was written by Fran Walsh, who latter did the screenplays for the Lord of the Rings.

Not quite the first. He had "Bad Taste" before that.

My favourite trivia about Feebles: you remember the machine gun? All those scenes used live rounds, not blanks.

By the way, other than the fact that I've been in love with Jennifer Connely since I was a kid and the phrase "Smell Baaaaaad!" - Labryrinth is all about David Bowie's gyrating and well accented codpiece.

It's almost unwatchable, so you should watch it.

Labyrinth would be far more watchable without the musical numbers.

I also wonder why around that time, it seemed like there was a major push to make ugly Muppets, like this and the Dark Crystal.

Right? Muppets went from odd to 'bad acid trip' in those two films.

I'd never seen "The Dark Crystal" until recently and I didn't care for it, mostly because the puppets were so grotesque and ugly. I mean, they don't all have to be cute and cuddly, but those were really kind of hard to look at. Even the friendly ones in Labyrinth, like the little knight who helped, and the furry monster weren't all that fun to look at.

I love the Dark Crystal. I get bummed every time I hear about how the sequel isn't getting made again.

Ugly Muppets are not a new thing:

mmm... More Chuck Norris flick badassedness:

If you ever wonder how anyone could think Chuck Norris is worthy of the praise he receives, it's because of this movie:

Forced Vengeance
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083960/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

Probably the most raw Norris film out there, he plays a voice over loving shylock for a casino in Hong Kong, and the film features him taking beatdowns almost equal to his delivery over and over. Dirty Cops, murderous crime lords, creepers getting what they deserve. The standard 80s midi soundtrack is actually great, and the camera work is Oscar worthy. This movie could easily stand above most action films these days, plus they use too much fake blood at exactly the right moments.

Seriously. Watch this movie.

If you like excessive fake blood, you may enjoy Peter Jackson's "Brain Dead" (aka "Dead Alive", I think there's another "Brain Dead" in the USA). It holds some sort of record for fake-blood-spurting in the scene where Lionel goes after zombies with a lawnmower.

I think I've mentioned it here before, but "Lair of the White Worm" is another fun-bad movie, and a huge improvement on the original story.

Today Mr. Penn and I watched the remake/reboot/re-whatever of "The Evil Dead." It's called "Evil Dead." It was boring. It had the occasional good jump, and even a couple of freaky scenes, but -- bleah. The cast had no chemistry (not that the script was so great), and at the end I was thinking, please, be over already.

Yeah. Skip the Evil Deads and go right to Army of Darkness.

Weird Al made a movie, an he beats down TV and Hollywood. This movie is worth watching just for the Michael Richards rainbow mop fight scene. Everything else about it is worth watching as well. Like the segment on how to make plutonium from household objects or the world's richest homeless guy.

...and to combo movie anti-TV:
Stay Tuned

John Ritter kicks the Devil's favorite TV promoter's(Jeffery Jones) ass with the help of Eugene Levy. While the personal actions and politics of some of these actor's are terrible, the film is not. Plus it has a moral, I think.

Actually I have seen Army of Darkness, albeit a long time ago. I am by no means a horror afficionado, but I do enjoy a decent-to-good horror movie. The Evil Dead remake was not one of them.

We watched it b/c we'd borrowed it from a neighbor and felt guilty we hadn't watched it yet. We have another, Wolf Creek, but I've read enough about it that I'm pretty sure I won't watch that one.

Rapture-Palooza. This poke in the eye aimed at organized religion is so stupid it's hilarious. Craig Robinson as a horndog antichrist almost steals the show, but Anna Kendrick meets him tit-for-tat. It's so bad I watched it twice in one week.Rapture-Palooza

Wait, wait, wait...
You're telling me you shamed yourself into watching a movie? That's so awesome. :D

Hopefully my conscience never makes me watch Titanic.
