Pubs' ACA replacement: The American Health Care Act

I don't understand, Donald promised it would be beautiful. (After telling us healthcare is actually complicated.)

It is; to him. He's doing exactly what he said he was going to do and I'm giggling like a school girl at the thought of his core voters getting bent over.

I'm not particularly surprised that a New York liberal would be just as big a socialist as George W Bush.

The Democrsts understood that Obamacare was not actually funded, and cpuld not work ss it was. Just like the continual "Doc Fix" for medicare, they were confident that in the unthinkable worst case, they could leave that Tar-Baby for an eventual Republican administration because of the ratchet effect. Once you give something away as an entitlement you can never take it away.

Best case was they retake power and just simply wait for the inevitable collapse and then come in and rescue it with single payor while blaming Republicans who had absolutely nothing to do with the bill.

It's an improvement for corporations and for rich people. You know, the demographics that the Pubs care about.

Actually it's not and the biggest tax breaks it seems are for the working class.

"[2] The AHCA will include age-based tax credits for those who earn less than $75,000, or $150,000 for joint filers."

You know, the demographics the Dems just shit all over for 8 years, called racist and then wondered how it's even possible that they lost their votes??

;)

Yes, they're getting a different kind of proctologist exam.

Those aren't the biggest tax breaks that this plan offers.

Oh in sheer volume sure, but proportionally? I bet it helps the working class considerably more than the pocket change the uber rich will get to keep.

Still better than the huge corporate ass fuck the (D)'s offered when they threw the working class under the bus and laughed about it.

So all the ultra rich (D)'s this is fucking up the ass? Good...fuck them and their pet scam.

Look for Repubs to quickly trash their own CBO appointee's credibility if he points out the glaring economic flaws of Obamacare 2.0.

American Psychological Association:

WASHINGTON — The American Psychological Association voiced serious concern regarding the bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, arguing that it would reduce mental health and substance use coverage for millions of Americans enrolled in Medicaid and contribute to the loss of coverage for millions more individuals.

“Any health care reform legislation considered by Congress should increase, not decrease, the number of Americans with access to affordable health care,” said APA President Antonio E. Puente, PhD. “While we support efforts to strengthen and stabilize our nation’s health care system and extend insurance coverage and protections, we oppose the legislation as introduced in light of the adverse impact it will have on Americans, particularly those with mental health and substance use disorders.”

An estimated 11 million Americans with incomes below 138 percent of the federal poverty level currently have coverage for mental health and substance use disorders, provided at parity with coverage for general medical services through Medicaid expansion plans. The current bill, called the American Health Care Act, would remove the requirement that Medicaid benchmark plans cover essential health benefits, which include mental health, substance use and behavioral health services.

“Removing this requirement would cause the loss of coverage for these life-saving treatments to millions of Americans and challenge the health of our nation,” Puente said.

APA and its affiliated APA Practice Organization also criticized the bill’s prohibition of funding for providers that primarily offer reproductive health services under Medicaid. This limitation would effectively cut off access to care for many low-income women as well as sexual and gender minorities, many of whom would not have access to health care if they could not access these service providers.

They're not even waiting, they're trashing it now.

Although the Congressional Budget Office isn’t expected to release its report on the cost of the Republicans’ Obamacare repeal plan until Monday, President Donald Trump is already preparing to bash its findings.

“If you’re looking to the CBO for accuracy, you’re looking in the wrong place,” said White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday. He went on to cite CBO’s incorrect predictions about Obamacare’s online marketplace enrollment as proof of the office’s lack of credibility.

Similarly, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich — who is a staunch Trump ally — excoriated the CBO earlier this month as a “left-wing, corrupt, bureaucratic defender of big government and liberalism.” This criticism ignored the fact that the office’s director, Keith Hall, was appointed by Republicans.

According to the nonpartisan Brookings Institution, it’s likely that the CBO’s findings will determine that the Republican repeal bill will increase the number of uninsured Americans by at least 15 million.

Translation: We need more access to that funding!!! :D

"Funding" is irrelevant, and they're not saying that because psychologists have some shortage of paying patients.

Just a $158 billion dollar tax cut for families making more than $250,000 per year. You know....pocket change.

The only way to fix health care is to take out the profit motive... that's the only solution.

"Funding" is irrelevant,

You're delusional if you don think money has anything to do with it.

and they're not saying that because psychologists have some shortage of paying patients.

But why have paying patients when you can just bill the government some ASTRO-FUCKING-NOMICAL bill for the same shit nobody in their right mind would dole out of their own pockets?

They want the gubbmint cheese......

Just a $158 billion dollar tax cut for families making more than $250,000 per year. You know....pocket change.

Spread that among the rich who already rich. 20~G's a year? Pocket change.

Now give the person making 50k a year back 1200 bucks a month.

(D)'s fucked the working class and the (R)'s are going to throw them a bone....something (D)'s are incapable of.

If they manage to do it, (D)ems the party of the smug elite, will shrink down to controlling a few major metro areas and that's about it. Enjoy!! :)

The corporatism model, letting companies determine public policy, is a fucking disaster I 100% agree.

We need to nationalize it or fuck off and let people handle their own shit.

That's what we keep asking for and it seems they just can't do anything in D.C. other than tax people and hand the mega bucks over to the super rich or just force people to give the super rich their money under penalty of law. If only there were actual liberals and conservatives running the show instead of a bunch of mafioso pimps.

Publicly funded health insurance generally brings treaters no more money than they would have earned without it. AFAIK, there has been no significant cost inflation in Canada since they went single-payer, quite the reverse, in fact.
