We'll have to wait and see what the actual facts are about that meeting after the investigation results are released. So far no one has anything other than scuttlebutt and opinion on what happened.
The Steele dossier OTOH, we already know the facts about. It was paid for by the H campaign through 2 intermediaries. There's no issue about the facts, the H campaign indirectly paid a foreign national for political information on an opposing candidate.
So, either H herself, her campaign, or the law firm, or all 3, violated the law.
And H isn't out of the woods yet on the email scandal either.

The current president's possible colluding with Russia to fix elections is far more important than a failed candidate's email server. This is an undeniable truth.

Conspiracy is a crime. Any collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians would constitute criminal conspiracy.

Conspiracy to do something illegal is a crime but, for example, if I conspire with my wife's sister to throw a surprise birthday party, that would not be a crime. If one politician obtains info on another, and gets that info from a foreign national, I have some doubt that would be illegal.
However, I do know that Hillary and the Dems colluded with foreign nationals to get info on The Donald. He may have colluded with foreign nationals to get info on Hillary. If he did, they are equally guilty or equally not guilty.
If, in 2008, John McCain had contacted the school Obama attended in Indonesia in order to get info on him, would that have been an illegal act? If the school had released info to the American public in 2008 showing what a stellar student Obama had been, would they have broken any law?
ETA: If oggbashan had posted something telling us what a ratbastard Trump is and how we should not vote for him, would that be illegal? He is a foreign national and would have been trying to influence an election in the USA, but would it have been illegal for him to do so?
