same title challenge: Travelling the Tarmac

On travelling the tarmac today,
making it's own statement
against speeding.
A red Fiesta, turned turtle,
decorating the middle
of a roundabout!

eye in the sky

drag cursor
see the pathway run
shiny from rain
home to road
back again

imaginary feet walk me along
past shrubs and the sheen of water
ponds settling to maturity
awaiting spring, and you
your absence a hole to be filled in

outbuildings
fields to either side
this flat black strip
is longer than it first appeared
within the cross-hairs on my screen
perspective skewed

while the white-haired beast
who owns the tarmac
senses a presence -
demands 'who goes there? show yourself!'

worth waiting for :)

worth waiting for :)
you're biased :p

had no idea what i was going to write (normal state of affairs, really), but since i've never been on anything like a real road trip, and this was led by tarmac in tods' title, the link with paths was always there i guess, just waiting. is 'white beast' too obscure for outsiders? hope not.

Ha! You've made some travel by rail to me that is much the same thing (I think)
the white beast is certainly enigmatic and may lead to several conclusions but that is a good thing believe me or ask 12

So December rolls around again, another year punched in on the time card of life, and I started thinking on all the journeys that you go on, surely there has to be something poetic in all of it, wether it be a real road trip, a metaphorical road where you get metaphorical road rash pen it.

no from requirements, no length restriction just sit at the keyboard and travel the tarmac windows down wind in your hair and show us all what it was like.
try and have it finished by the end of December, since it's holiday season and things go crazy hopefully a month to write gives you enough time if not it's only lit :D
The damned slide past the Oranges

red to blue
and
red to blue and all over again
diamonds in my hair
diamonds everywhere
Is that...
the voice of John Calvin
if I'm in hell
I'll kick your fuckin' ass
when I can stand
Fuck!
oh...it's only gravel

Nice boots

it's only
the NJSP

Is there anyone in here who doesn't want me to go through your poem and post my thoughts on it, in the thread titled, "todski's trivial thoughts"

since I started this thread and you have all donated your time to post a poem I thought it only fair that I attempt to give you my thoughts on them.

This untitled poem was sitting waiting in ee's "not sure how many words" thread and so I thought I found a title and a new spot to revive a drive from Jasper to Cold Lake in.

Travelling The Tarmac

Driving east I saw the glory
streams through pewter cloud
tinted with precious and dressed
in shimmer. Electrum stairway
for enlightened souls touch
the upturned faces waiting
for their turn to climb
to heaven.

The prairie waits in sullen heat
oppressed suppression
dancing mirages on a highway
polished by a million treads
as shades of history flash past.

At last to find breezes against
the shore that fill the sail and move
valiant skiffs even though the season
plays out short and furious
to become fall then winter
and only promise spring.

the road home
winter's death.

Traveling the Tarmac

i
Head against glass,
slow breathing in
anticipation as the
taxi ride ends and
waiting for the rush to
the very end, watching
it all drop away,
again

ii
Waving to the ground
crew while doing my best
to check out the stews,
sorry, attendants, in as
professional a manner as
possible. Not easy sometimes.

iii
Sun is hot. Not in general, just
while out there, out
on the black surface, hooking
up each bird in turn and
dragging it back and forth,
bringing them in
watching them leave
wondering if I’ll ever be
doing the same.

iv
Smile. That’s what they say.
Smile and help out.
Smile and even up the overheads.
Smile and roll the cocktail cart,
handing out quieters,
booze, snacks, headphones,
collecting trash
Just rolling along until hitting
the air, then sitting and rolling
and saying goodbye
Buh-bye.
