Don't look now, but he isn't running the country--and he's quite publicly piss poor at running the part he is taking time off of golf and tweeting and his private business and his assorted vendettas to dabble in. He has no idea (or care) about most of what's happening in how the country is running. The running of the country at the moment is a battleground between the dwindling professional bureaucracy and a thin veneer of political appointees engaged in dismantling the government that has been applied across the government agencies. To the extent the government is "running" at all, it's doing so on muscle memory. (And that's from more than just an observation.)

You're absolutely right. Those two issues have practically nothing in common--both because of the difference in the crudeness of the situation and the office from which the comments were made. What U.S. government official called Palin a bimbo? You brought it up. Source it.
