The Official Author's Hangout Valentine's Day 2013 Contest Support Thread

The good news is, I'm about two lit-pages into my story.

The bad news is, while the backstory is pretty good, the sex isn't what it ought to be for a Lit story.

More good news: I have much stronger plot bunnies for Earth Day and Nude Day (and have even started writing both stories). I just wish I had come up with something stronger for Valentine's Day. The thing is, nearly all my stories have a hopeless-romantic bent to them, so I figured I had to try for this contest even if I'm not crazy about the way it's panning out. I'm just going to go for broke on the mushiness - I mean, why not on that of all holidays? ;)

I'm writing, but not for Valentine's Day.

The Muses were inspired by a thread in Fetish and Sexuality, and I'm three-quarters of the way through a Spider-Woman story. Not exactly Valentine material. :D

I do have several part-complete Valentine's stories left over from previous years. Once Spider-Woman is done, perhaps I can resurrect one of those incomplete stories.

For those of us interested in the 2013 Survivor Contest, people are discussing and voting on rule changes here: 2013 Survivor Rules and Registration

I proposed a rule change to the way the audio stories are listed on the scorecard. There's a suggestion to eliminate the 30 point bonus for entering all the year's theme contests. And we are rehashing the chapter rule for the contest. Input is welcome and appreciated!

Focus energy, grasshopper.

Back to work on my multipart distinctly non VD contest story. Good progress but stalled on VD. How do you guys stay focused when writing (for fun) has to be the last priority.

I insist on not leaving the keyboard til I write the preset # of words.

This year I'm just going to type letters. Then I'm going to post it as an assembly your own Valentines Day story. That way it will have something for everyone. :)

Yeah, that's a problem when you have little kids. "Sorry sweetie, Mommy can't make dinner right now, she's got 500 words of porn left to write for her daily goal."

;-)

That should be fun. The only question is, what category does a "write your own damn story" go into?

;-)

erotica, hun, not porn... and I used to write early in the morning before the awoke or after they went to bed at night.

I'm now at the age where it's not the time, it's the energy I need.

and isn't that why God gave us frozen pizza?

Hmmm, ya had to ask that didn't ya?

That also opens the possibilities of writing one for every category.

"write your own damn lesbian story"

"write your own damn anal story"

"write your own damn..."

Well, you get the idea. ;)

It's one that you don't think about what category it goes in until after you've written the story you wanted to write.

As long as they are aware that some assembly is required, it's all good. :D

Why am I picturing a "Choose your own sex story" here..... "If you want to screw the girl, go to page 18; if you want a blow job, go to page 37...".....

Hey now! That's what I had planned for the summer loving contest.

My really creepy, eerie story about a woman haunted by an evil spirit that I had all planned out is morphing into a light-hearted romp with a very friendly ghost. I'm sure that bodes well for my shaky emotional state, but it's wreaking havoc on the plot development.
