The difference between Libertarian and "Litbertarian"
Exhibit "A": Fiscal year 2009 spending
The Libertarian Cato Institute:
Quote:
I’m a big fan of criticizing Obama’s profligacy, but it is inaccurate and/or dishonest to blame him for Bush’s mistakes...the 2009 fiscal year began on October 1, 2008, and the vast majority of the spending for that year was the result of Bush Administration policies. Yes, Obama did add to the waste with the so-called stimulus, the omnibus appropriation, the CHIP bill, and the cash-for-clunkers nonsense, but as the chart illustrates, these boondoggles only amounted to just a tiny percentage of the FY2009 total – about $140 billion out of a $3.5 trillion budget.

...Let’s use an analogy. Obama’s FY2009 performance is like a relief pitcher who enters a game in the fourth inning trailing 19-0 and allows another run to score. The extra run is nothing to cheer about, of course, but fans should be far more angry with the starting pitcher.
|
Contrast the above to the typical "Litbertarian" rhetoric that regularly appears on this site:

A "Litbertarian" is a Republican too cowardly to admit that a Republican has made a mistake.

Hmm I do not think I have seen vette consider himself a Libertarian, but maybe I missed that somewhere.
At any rate, as far as Libertarianism is concerned, there is an interesting write-up on the fracture of the party. From what I understand, Libertarians are very unhappy with the spending and size of government in general, and commonly rail against big-government conservatives as well as big-government liberals.
Then again, I am not an expert on Libertarianism, but from what I understand, are there different types of Libertarians regarding fiscal policy like the foreign policy?

yep. speaking to someone close to me who is Libertarian, he'd say this is pretty spot on. As far as the party, it has become a bit fractured because of disagreements and ideals.

Hmm, because I do regularly see self-proclaimed Libertarians being labeled Republicans because of the pro-war stance and defense of well-known Republicans and Republican ideas. Most if not all Libertarians I know of are very anti-Obama on the fiscal side. However, the split of the RNC and reformers looking to clean up the party tend to get support of self-proclaimed Libertarians here.
I am not here to say they are right or wrong. They have their viewpoint, and that is alright with me. I am just confused as to where the loyalties lie if any at all.

As far as I can tell, the basic Libertarian loyalty is to one's own self, provided whatever you do doesn't interfere with same in others.
Kinda like the Wicca creed: "An it do no harm, do as ye will."
A bit like Aleister Crowley, too, now that I think of it: "Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."

So if it is about individuality, then is it more about personal convictions rather than party-line politics, therefore a larger tent with more diverse views?

So, basically, you're saying...if I joined the Libertarian Party, I could have sex with all the gorgeous, bodacious, voluptuous, big-titted women I could ever want and meet?
Now THAT'S the kinda party and government I've been looking for all my life! Where do I sign up?

From what I understand, Libertarians do not care who you fuck as long as it does not harm somebody else and/or property.

I couldn't tell you that. Generally, Libertarians seem to be on the same page to me.

A "Libertarian" is a Republican who smokes pot.

IX. The Courtyard
It was the city I had known before;
The ancient, leprous town where mongrel throngs
Chant to strange gods, and beat unhallowed gongs
In crypts beneath foul alleys near the shore.
The rotting, fish-eyed houses leered at me
From where they leaned, drunk and half-animate,
As edging through the filth I passed the gate
To the black courtyard where the man would be.
The dark walls closed me in, and loud I cursed
That ever I had come to such a den,
When suddenly a score of windows burst
Into wild light, and swarmed with dancing men:
Mad, soundless revels of the dragging dead -
And not a corpse had either hands or head!
