Bye-bye Mike Huckabee
If this is true, it's campaign poison in 2012.

No one will give Huckabee a free pass if he ends up running for president, least of all his immediate rivals for the GOP nomination. My guess is this never gets to the point where the Democrats even need to make it an issue.
My point was that there may be cases where commuting a sentence is called for. Looking at this case, however, it certainly seems like the guy that was sprung was someone who needed to stay behind bars, and not just because of what he may have done subsequently (there's still no official charge).
I do look forward to how Huck's current employers will cover this story. One can imagine how it would play had a leading Democrat done the commuting, given that Fox News is run by one of the people responsible for making Willie Horton a household name.

I'd have to say it's over for Huckabee.

Yeah. It's too bad. I like Huckabee--the religious fundamentalism notwithstanding. And I think he's the perfect Republican candidate: appealing but unelectable.
He's also, by the way, the only one of these clowns in recent years who has spoken out against the criticism of Obama as a matter of fundamental disrespect.

It was the city I had known before;
The ancient, leprous town where mongrel throngs
Chant to strange gods, and beat unhallowed gongs
In crypts beneath foul alleys near the shore.
The rotting, fish-eyed houses leered at me
From where they leaned, drunk and half-animate,
As edging through the filth I passed the gate
To the black courtyard where the man would be.
The dark walls closed me in, and loud I cursed
That ever I had come to such a den,
When suddenly a score of windows burst
Into wild light, and swarmed with dancing men:
Mad, soundless revels of the dragging dead -
And not a corpse had either hands or head!

Right, because it was actually Hillary who signed the presidential pardon.
Jesus Christ.
I like Huckabee, though I disagree with him an awful lot. It's too bad for him if this explodes the way it might.

This story is linked on HuffPo:
http://www.arkansasleader.com/fronts.../huckabee.html
Apparently from back in the day. I wonder why we didn't hear about it during the election.
Quote:
Jegley cites numerous examples of Huckabee's freeing felons who go on committing more crimes and wind up back in prison.
___ Maurice Clemmons received a 35-year sentence in the early 1990s for armed robbery and theft. His sentence was commuted in May 2000, and he was let out three months later.
___ The following March, Clem-mons committed two armed robberies and other crimes and was sentenced to 10 years. You'd think they'd keep him locked up after that, but no: He was paroled last March and is now wanted for aggravated robbery.

Sadly, I don't think so...there was no sex involved, so the Christian Reich will absolve Huckabee of his sins...
now if it had been that Godless Mormon Romney on the other hand.....

These idiots can't filter fact from fiction if they tried.
Fact: Huckabee granted Clemmons clemency (in the form of commutation) to an individual that has served 11 years of a 95 year sentence for aggravated robbery. This sentence was imposed when Clemmons was 17 years of age.
Opinion: I don't know about the rest of you clowns, but 95 years seems like and excessive sentence to impose on a 17 year old not found guilty of a capital offense.
Fact: Clemmons was recently bailed out of a Wash. state jail to the tune of $15,000 on a $150,000 bail fee. It's obvious that the state officials had him in custody and it was the state of Wash. courts that put him back on the street, not Huckabee.
Liberal Babble Rejoinder: "Oh yeah, well if Huckabee hadn't of let him out to begin with he never would have been able to commit a crime in Wash. state so he could be bailed out. So there."
I'm no longer amazed at the lack of critical thought that the products of our government school systems are so obviously incapable of.

Just cherry-picking the news to smear because they can't take him on the issues...
AND HE'S NOT RUNNING! It was in the news JUST THIS WEEK past!
Jesus H. Christ these people are uninformed on everything but the tactic of the smear, the modern Democrat polity.

The rightness of his thinking in regard to that sentence probably won't matter much to the leftist press bent on marginalizing him early if he decides to run. Assuming this man is guilty, it will be shown that Huckabee's magnanimity and lack of foresight allowed several violent felonies and the ultimate murder of 4 police officers to be perpetrated on society. Willie Horton didn't help the Dukakis campaign one iota either.
