I confess to having attended the damn thing. Lest you draw an incorrect conclusion, I hate professional football ( be it the NFL variety or the variety practiced by the cow colleges ). The only reason I attended is because an old friend extended an invitation and it serves as an excuse to catch up. I dread and despise the venue.
The crowd appeared to be composed of the lowest dregs of humanity; I estimate that the average IQ was in the area of 80. It also appeared to be an assembly of the ugliest people on earth. On the whole, it was a profane, drunk, coarse and vile bunch— I wouldn't dream of exposing a lady or a child to such half-wits and their boorish behavior. It astonishes me that anyone with would actually spend any money to attend such a circus.
The game was supremely boring; if it hadn't been for the conversation, I'd have been angry at the waste of four hours.
It is a testament to the basic decency of Baltimore that the large contingent of Pittsburgh fans were treated with comparatively good manners. One can't help but question the judgment of anyone stupid enough to wear visiting team regalia to an away game. It is not unlike waving a red cape in front of a bull and is a plain invitation to taunting, insults or worse. I don't even want to think what fate would befall transgressors in sewers like New York or Philadelphia.
