Supposedly the busiest shopping day of the year in the Great Satan. For a country that's as shallow and consumption addicted as they are, it's apparently a big deal.

well in australia, black friday is a reference to two things
1) 13th january 1939 - 79 people killed in a massive bushfire. one of australia's worst bushfires.
2) any friday the 13th - commonly referred to as black friday and considered unlucky. dates back to the day the templar knights were betrayed and later burned at the stake.
there are various other american refences of way more import than shopping...the black friday stock market crash for example.
