Now that was nice
I had set my alarms for 0500 this morning but was woken up at 0445 by my phone ringing. Rolling over I answered it and heard the Charge Nurse for the overnight Her comment made me laugh.
"Good Morning and Happy Birthday you old fart. You and your wife have both been canceled today so go back to bed and enjoy the day."
Ahhh it's so nice to be loved.
I thanked her and hung. Putting the phone down I rolled over and told my wife what was up. Of course she grabbed her phone and called in just to make sure. Yep, we were both canceled.
I was all set to roll over and go back to sleep when I had a thought. What were we going to have for dinner? Oh Shitski, we hadn't planned on eating at home tonight.
Out of bed I crawl and grabbing a flashlight I head for the back room and the freezer. I was right about it, I had a frozen solid Turkey Roast in the freezer. This was pulled out and tossed in the fridge. Now it was time to head back to bed.
Soon after we finally crawled out of bed, (at 0630) I pulled the roast out of the fridge and dropped it into a sink full of luke warm water. This sped up the defrost program considerably. As it defrosted I made breakfast, (Corned Beef Hash.) I also stepped out back and got the smoker ready. I was planning on making a treat.
Well needless to say the smoker is going now and we're anticipating a feast. Smoked Turkey Roast, Honey glazed Baby Carrots, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and of course Beer. (My wife will be drinking Wine.)
Today was an unexpected day off and a pleasurable one.

I've been up since yesterday morning except for short naps. But I'm okay.

Thanks all. It's off to bed for me soon as I have to get up tomorrow at 0500. (Not to mention I'm still stuffed. I'm wondering if I'll have to eat tomorrow?)
