Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
I haven't been here much lately. Life has been kicking my ass. However, I am thankful this place -- and all its wildlife -- are here.

Turkey's done, pie's made, butterbeans on the stove, and dressing is in the works. Y'all stop by if you get a chance.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Off in a bit to Thanksgiving on top of a mountain--and possibly snow.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I cooked a feast Sunday and we're going to my sister-in-law's house today. I love when other people besides me cook.

Thanksgiving is a co-op at mom's house. I'm doing the turkey cajun rub this year. And a reduction/whole cream gravy to slather all over everything.
Well, maybe not the pie . . .

The Facebook chronicles of GobbleFest '09:
- Food prep underway. Salmon pate. Check. Pumpkin parfait on the stove. Cranberries cooking down. Veggies being chopped.
- Cheese tray assembled. Hard boiled eggs peeled. Chocolate-covered nut-raisin mix is mid-melt. Spinach washed & draining.
- Chocolate-covered nut-raisin mix finished (& sampled *eep*). Pumpkin parfait finished & refrigerated. Veggie trough assembled. Sourdough bread bowl being excavated now. Two loads of laundry completed & trash taken out. Sausage for stuffing browned.
- Stuffing assembled & ready to bake. Cranberry sauce finished & stowed. Wild rice ready for broccoli-rice-cheese casserole. Green beans cleaned for de rigueur casserole. Choya "uncorked" and chillin'
- Tomorrow, must bake the bird (which I'm stuffing with BACON), make deviled eggs, bake casseroles (x3), assemble pumpkin parfaits with ice cream layers, make fresh whipped cream (either egg nog or gingerbread flavor).
- Bacon-draped, bacon-stuffed bird in the oven. Next up: peel & cut sweet potatoes into fries. Baking half of them with pepper, olive oil & sea salt. The other half get cinnamon & Splenda. And, make the deviled eggs. Dinner's at 2-ish.
- Pioneer Woman's "best" creamed spinach complete. Sausage-cabbage low-carb stuffing baked. Broccoli-wild rice-cheese casserole in the crock. Waldorf salad made. Broccoli-bacon-raisin cold salad made. Awesome deviled eggs prepared by awesome guest. Veggie & cheese trays out for grazing. Bird comes out of the oven in 20 minutes. Still have to peel/cut the sweet potatoes. They'll go in the oven last, and when they're finished, we GOBBLE.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Had a quiet non-traditional dinner at home with dad.
I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I'm thankful I made it out of my burning house alive and in one piece back in August. I'm thankful my dad is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery. I'm thankful for all the wonderful friends I have, online and in real life, who enrich my life every single day and of course, I'm thankful that in this rough economy, I still have a job so I can put food on the table and a roof over my head.
Hope everyone enjoys the holiday.

For friends, for love, for laughter, for deep thoughts, for light hearts, for a place to just vent, and a place to sit and listen.
Thank you one and all.
Happy Thanksgiving
