Don’t know if I ever told you, but you were the first person I “met” on Lit. You invited me into Molly’s thread and made me feel at home. I really appreciated that. You also prolly know more about the “doings” of our family than just about anybody else on Lit. That’s cuz you care and are appreciated for being you.--posthumous message from Safe_Bet. It's not called the weather for nothing. Mother Nature is a funny lady. She goes along with the plan only when it suits her.

This quote caught my eye:

The Hadley Center group expects warming to resume in the coming years. "That resumption could come as a bit of a jolt," says Hadley climatologist Adam Scaife, explaining that natural cyclical warming would then be augmented by the warming effect caused by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.

I'm sure those who depend on the Himalaya watershed will be pleased to learn that their rivers won't be running dry in 30 years, in spite of the fact that the glaciers are continuing to recede at an alarming rate.

Liar,
You got that right....
I had a surreal experience today:
A fellow researcher who can only be described as 'bizarre' related his recent experience fishing in the deep waters off the Washington Coast....He described seeing fish and phenomena that aren't ever seen in those waters - some of his observations involved flora as well as fauna - he's quite familiar with the area.....After a few minutes of this he asks me:
"Do you think that there might be something to Global Warming after all?"
This from someone who has vehemently denied and supported the 'Global Warning is a Great Hoax' view for the past thirty years.....3Sale is like water to molasses compared to this guy!!!
I cited some reports I needed to finish and excused myself, not really sure if he was putting me on or not....Later he emailed me and asked to have a cup of coffee so that we might discuss his experience away from work....
Stay tuned......

The evidence for warming is clear. The cause is still a subject of vast debate. The future of the process is a very obscure crystal ball, indeed. All this hysteria about how terrible things will be when the earth heats up another 6C will come to a sudden screaming halt if the melting of the Greenland ice cap throws us into the next ice age.

Why would I do that? I'm well aware of the fact. The various media ( well, some of it ) is finally getting around to reporting it.
'course nine or ten years doesn't prove a damn thing. At the end of next year, there will be people screaming that we've just lived through the warmest decade since 1900.
I expect temperature and climate to change. They always have and they always will. Thus far, climate forecasters have roughly the same record of accuracy as do stock market forecasters and entrail readers.
