Bears/Birds
I have decided to watch football...but it's so nice outside. Still, it's a pivotal, bounce back game. The Bear's new, high performance QB will once again be running for his life all afternoon.
The dog is looking at me longingly.
I guess he won't walk himself.

I picked the birds. Of course my NFL picks this year have left something to be desired.

Since I'm spending today being old, I have to say: that period in American sports, the years on either side of, say, 1975 (which corresponds to the advent of free-agency in baseball), are still the golden years for me. Steelers, Cowboys, A's, Reds, Yankees, Muhammed Ali, the Johnny/Jack/Tom years in golf, Nastase/Borg/Lendl/Connors, OJ (the good years), etc., etc. We've had a lot of impressive individuals since then, some great teams, and definitely some amazing post-seasons. There's no doubt the level of play has improved greatly. But for me, that's when it was really sports.
(I'm sure those people 20 years older than me talk about the 50s in the same manner....)

The 70s are generally considered the best decade for football. Even the old timers don't argue that too much and when they do they usually lose the argument.
Baseball is a different story. It's very easy to say a few different decades were the best. I think it might be difficult to say the 70s were better than the 50s or 60s. Maybe even the 30s or 40s if someone really wants to break it down.
Golf is probably late 60s to mid to late 70s although for obvious reasons the 00s have been one for the books.
