Shame on anyone who politicizes the shooting in Fort Hood today. I don't care if they post here or are a television commentator. Those that do are human pieces of shit.
I havn't checked but I'm pretty sure I know who here and on television will do it.

I heard about it on my way home a little while ago, and when they said the name of the shooter I was sure I was going to find a thread about how he was obviously a Muslim and they're all evil and should be killed. However, busybody doesn't appear to be online right now. Closest we've got is Vetteman's post in KS's thread.

This event has many angles. It is a tragedy for the nation and for the people involved. Like September 11, 2001, however, it is, by its very nature, a political event. It more than likely was done for a political reason, not because the Tang in the mess hall was warm. This was a planned attack, carried out from within.
Irrespective of the personal aspect of the event, it is fair game for political discussion, commentary, and the usual speculation.

This is an intriguing story. A co-worker, who is a self described bleeding heart liberal, asked me, "What is going on at Fort Hood?" I am a former Marine so any time he can engage me in a healthy military debate, he does.
I had no idea what he was talking about. The story had just broke. So, I followed it and later on I passed him by and said, "you'll never guess what the guy's name is." I then told him. He laughed like I was making a wingnut joke. I looked to another co-worker and said, "he thinks I'm making it up."
Anyways, before they knew who it was and at that point they thought there were up to three shooters, I thought about who the shooter(s) could be. I concluded that they would be between 18 and 21, white, enlisted and therefore somewhat uneducated. Imagine my surprise when the true profile came out.
Who cares if he was Muslim. He was 39. An OFFICER and therefore educated. He had a MD, and here is the kicker, he was a psychiatrist.
According to the preliminary reports, he was upset about his deployment to Iraq. His deployment would have been, what, a year? Behind a desk? Never to be directly in harms way? So what does he do? He intentionally puts himself in harms way and kills his fellow servicemen. I don't get it.
Religion be damned, this guy is the last guy I would have thought capable of something like this. What made him snap?
