Searching to Redeem (closed)

Sabbitha Matriark
Ark
19
Ark was the leader of a small specially trained group to protect the princess. But when she went missing the royal family held her personally accountable.
Now a wanderer she’d originally set out to find the princess but when she didn’t come up with anything she put it on the back burner focusing on surviving and living her life. Traveling from place to place.

Sabbitha is a strong young woman. Her mother was a servant for the royal family and since she was young she was a playmate for the princess who was a little younger than herself. She also played with the crowned prince who was 5 years her senior, he'd taught her to handle a sword and fend for herself. At 16 she was asked to be the princess' personal guard and she accepted.
They had a good year together she was always at her side but on Sabbitha's 17th birthday she was taken out by the prince who was visiting. They returned later that evening to find the young princess missing. They both searched the grounds for her but she was gone. Returning to the castle informing the King and Queen of her disappearance, both whom blamed her for not being with their daughter.
When Sabbitha went with the prince for her birthday, she'd left her friend with Ronin the head of the family guard, she knew he cared for her so thought he'd take good care of her. But he was obsessed with her. Taking the chance alone to kidnap her.
The Queen decided to Spare the young guard out of respect for her friendship with her daughter. In return she'd promised to dedicate herself to finding their daughter. That night she packed her things, the king even giving her funds and her search began. She'd traveled the kingdom following any leads she came upon. Winding up in another kingdom far from her home.
It's been 2 years of chasing after empty leads, 2 years of blaming herself. Now 19 she sat alone in a small run down bar, sitting in back in the shadows drinking a glass of scotch. Her bag with her belongings at her feet, sitting deciding what she should do. Sipping her drink she rested her chin on her hands her hair falling in front of her face.
"Damn-it!!! this whole time I've been traveling and I'm no closer to finding the princess. I need to find a place to hold out the winter." She sighed with a small nod, her finger running along the rim of her glass.

Wade Coinn
22
He had spent the evening bar tending, not exactly a glamerous or exciting job but he liked it. One reason for this was the people he go to meet. Exhibit A was sitting right in front of him, a pretty young thing that he just couldn't keep his eyes off.
He smiled at her when she spoke. He wasn't completely sure if she was talking to him or herself, since there was nobody else nearby. "Sounds like you've got a story. I'll give yu a free drink if you let me hear it." he said sounding quit happy himself. Figuring she might want an explaination he went on "It's a slow night, and I've got nothing better to do."
He looked around. Not only was nobody else siting at the bar, there was only one table with people at the other side of the room. He didn't even know why he'd kept this place open during times like these. He poured himself a drink and sat next to her at the bar. "Or, if yo'd rather not, at least give me the honor of letting me know your name." his voice had a hint of flirtation in it. "I'm Wade."

Sabbitha continued to sip on her drink deciding what to do. The princess was her responsibility. She couldn't let her friend, or the King and queen down. She to a final sip of her drink sighing deeply when she'd finished staring at the empty glass before her eyes looked out a dirty window seeing it was snowing hard outside. She grabbed a small pouch from her bag seeing how much she'd still had.
Closing the small leather bladder she got to her feet pulling her hood over her head grabbing her large bag and glass walking to the bar which was empty save the bartender a younger man whom she paid little mind to having a seat. looking out the cracked door she was startled when someone spoke to her. She nearly grabbed for her sword but restrained seeing it was the bartender speaking.
"No thank-you." She said her voice hard, her tone sharp looking away again as he spoke wondering why he was talking to her in the first place turning her head back towards him. "It's not really that interesting... And really none of your business." She replied with a nod, "But the name's Sabbithat Matriark." She replied holding up her glass, "Another scotch." She said catching the tone but seeming for the most part disinterested and on her guard.

Ouch. Denied. Shame to, she was the prettest lady he'd seen in here in a long time. But she did look like the tough type, not that he didn't like a girl who could fend for herself, it just made it no surprise that she had no interest in some random flirty bartender. For s plit second he had the pained expression of someone rejected hard, but his msmile would quickly rteurn. "Sorry Ms. Matriark. You're right. None of my bussiness." he said, before standing up and getting back to work again.
After getting her drink he started cleaning glasses in a mindless sort of way, occasionally looking over at her, but only for a second, worried she'd catch him at it. He'd shut up now, and the bar was nearly silent again. The next time he spoke was when once again the glass in front of her was empty. "Another?" he asked trying hard to be as cassual as possible, not even paying much attention to her, looking far to busy cleaning an already clean glass. He figured if he just played it cool there might at leat be some chance she'd speak to him eventually. Nobody can stand such quiet for so long.

Ark turned her attention loosely to the bartender. She gave him a strange look seeing how intently he was cleaning a glass. “I’m pretty sure that glass is as clean as your going to get it.” She said with a chuckle giving him a glance. Before returning to her thoughts. “You didn’t have to move on my account.” She said nodding, “I simply said it’s none of your business why I’m passing through. I’m not that unapproachable…” She added rolling her eyes. She really didn’t care what people believed of her but truth be told she was a nice person.
Turning her head back towards the flirtatious bartender she realized there was a slight chance he might have seen her princess. “Hey, I was wondering have you seen a girl in here? She’s kinda petite, a little pudgy, short dark red hair, big ruby eyes, her lion mark might have been visible on her left shoulder blade.” She asked finishing off her drink nodding when he’d offered her another, holding her glass out to him.

Wade had to smile as she cuaght him. He put down the glass with an almost embaressed look on his face. He'd just figured that when the first thing somebody told him was to mind his own bussiness, that they wouldn't be the type who'd really like to talk. He was glad that it looked as though she wasn''t totally opposed to some company after all. He returned to his seat next to her.
He thought carefully about the question she was posing to him. He rubbed his chin for a few seconds before saying "I... I don't really recall seeing anyone of that description. Sorry." he said, refilling her glass without asking again, and took another new glass and poured himself the same. "On the house." he said, trying to sound freindly.

Ark glanced towards him seeing the smile on his lips the same indifferent expression painted on her features. A glint of hopefulness in her eyes as he’d thought on her question sighing when he said he hadn’t. She wasn’t’ surprised though all the towns and cities she’s traveled to had been the same thing no one’s seen a girl matching the princess’ description. ‘It’s been so long she could have changed, who knows what she could look like she could even be.’ She thought to herself shaking her head not wanting to think that her lost friend could be gone. “They’ll pay.” She whispered to herself clenching a fist.
She brought her attention back to the bartender who offered her a free drink nodding her head she muttered a thank-you taking a swig of the harsh liquid like it was water sighing she looked back towards him wondering about him he seemed too eager to chat her up, which made her suspicious. But her traveling over the years, and being set up for her best friends kidnapping helped her become that way as well.

He listened to her word of disappointment, of concern, of rage. He wasn't sure if she was talking to him or herself, but either way he was just beginning to get a glimpse of what was going on in this ladies life. He wanted to ask her if she actually wanted to talk about it, but he didn't, having learned his lesson the first time about being nosy when it came to her. Instead they'd drink together in silence for a while.
Eventually he spoke though. He knew that she didn't want him to butt into her personal affairs, but he thought he just might be able to help her. It was a long sho but he thought he'd give it a chance. "Like I said earlier, I overheard you... You said you needed somewhere to stay for the winter. There's a pretty cheap inn just across the street, but it sounded as though you may... be in need of some.. help." he started, not sure how she'd react to the offer he was about to make. "Now, I don't want to come off sounding like a creep, but, if you really need to, you could say at my place for the winter. It's small but cozy. Not that I'm trying to..." he trailed off, having rambled on to long and embarrassed himself.
He looked down at the top of the bar and took and drank silently some more. After an awkward silence he'd quietly say "Er... I'm sorry."
