Job reviews might be hazardous
From today's ADN.com:
"A woman who pulled a gun on her supervisor and pulled the trigger during a job performance evaluation has been convicted of attempted murder, according to the district attorney.
Karan Vanae Clifton, 44, was convicted of planning to kill two supervisors when they tried to discipline her in the meeting about her performance at Providence Extended Care Center in August 2006, prosecutors said.
Deputy District Attorney Sharon Marshall said Clifton was armed with a loaded handgun when she went into the meeting and when her supervisor told her she would need an evaluation before returning to work, Clifton pulled the gun pointed it at the chest of one boss and pulled the trigger.
She had failed to chamber a round, however, and the weapon did not fire, Marshall said. After a three-minute struggle, Clifton was subdued and arrested. She told police she planned to kill both people in the meeting, Marshall said.
Clifton is facing between five and 99 years in prison, Marshall said. "

Do they still have straw-bosses at the post office? Looking over your shoulder while you work?
This lady worked in a nursing home. One that's accommodated several family members, at times.

They didn't do a credit check on this woman. They would have seen this coming if they had.

It is. I'll have to see if they've posted a photo of this woman. I might have seen her over there.

I think they will have to take this inability to deliver on this project into account in her performance review. Not a complicated task, and it had a pretty well-defined deliverable. It builds a context of being unable to see a job through to completion.
Needs more training.

it sucks
8 hrs of work for 8 hrs of pay
watch out for the OIG's too, they are catching many people taking advantage of time on the street while they are to be delivering mail
i have known postmasters working with the OIG to catch the bad carriers...
even putting cameras in the mail trucks....
part time clerks are having hours cut, route adjustments are taking away rural routes
the usps is doing a good job of cutting, but for the longtimers they are not happy. they still want their 40 hrs, even though their status as an employee does not guarantee them 40

I was thinking of you as I typed. My best friend has 18 years in and gets sweated every now and then.
He put one of those time badge thingys in his house so he can swipe his card and make it look like he's working while taking extra lunch time.

It's a good thing she's not a Republican, Libertarian, or Alaska Independence Party member......you're required to take firearm proficiency test before you sign up in this state. The gun would have fired.
Providence is a huge employer up this way, but they suck. They claim to be human, but treat employees like commodities. If you get into a situation where you need to go to the OR up this way, the survivability rate is better at the other local hospital.

cute, carriers dont have to punch for lunch
my current boss nabbed a carrier for delivering newspapers on his route as well.
even i am afraid to piss him off, he could easily hand me a letter of warning if i don't do my job.
it is hard to get across to the long timers that we are sinking and if we dont capture that money and time back
there may not be a cpompany to retire from
i have 11 yrs in, and nothing to fall back on
damn right i want to do my job
so i have a job and can take care of my children
why chance losing your job on delivering a newspaper? missing scan points?
you can lose your job for something that silly
try and go home and explain that to your wife or husband or children...
"sorry dear lost my job cause i didn't scan the barcode on 35 main street."

I'm not sure of the details, but I think he gets ahead of his route then uses the scan point at home to make it look like he's on Brooks Street. But if he got fired he would be so screwed. He's only had this one job since high school.

A neighbor lady of mine just took early retirement and what ever buy out the postal service is offering them. She said she won't miss working there.

and if it gets out that he has a scan, he can get fired
if he values his job, and the money he makes
be a friend and tell him to just do the job
do jeopardize it
if my current PM gets his way, and goes with what the district wants
one carrier and one clerk will still have a job, just not in this office
a postal employee just needs to follow the rules and they are safe

10000 this year 5000 next year
if you have the time, retire.
i know many clerks and carriers that have the time and then some
they like the money they make.
on the other hand, there are plenty of upper management that need to retire too, they also are addicted to the money
the incentive was not offered to management or carriers
