Hmmm, wait, no this is Minnesota. The cops were hella friendly up there when I chatted briefly with a few at a diner in the southern part of the state. This dude must be a transplant from the Deep South.

I don't give this much hope for justice being served.

We've had officers in this country shoot people dead for pulling out wallets or killing people at weddings who were doing nothing at all, and the law found them not guilty.

Tasering someone doesn't even come close. The cop could have walked up on him and shot him in the back of the head, execution style, and they'd walk him off the hotplate in court.

If you're a cop you gotta be caught on tape shooting a cute blonde 6 year old in the back of the head at her birthday party while brutally assraping her mother in front of 16 other cute blonde 6 year olds just to get a hung fucking jury. And don't let the victims be black or hispianic, much less Muslim cause that's ticker fucking tape parade time, especially in Simi Valley...

this is outrageous! people of all shades would be up in arms here about this and there would be pointed and angry questions directed at the PM in Prime-Minister's question-time as well as programmes suddenly whipped up to cover this sort of breach of human rights. Has it stirred much reaction in the states? Has the officer in question even been suspended from duty? He seemed far too at ease and familiar with the way he handed that taser.

I'm tellin' ya, that guy said something to really piss them off. We only see a second or two before he gets tased. Just doesn't make sense even for an asshole cop to do that without some kind of provocation. No reason to tase a guy who's doing what he's told and not causing any trouble at all. Even dickhead cops don't typically do that.
This guy was mouthing off or gave them some shit before putting his hands on the car. Maybe even threw a few punches or something. Not excusing what they did since he was obviously under control at the time but if he was talking shit or threw a punch then you gotta expect some payback.

It looks that way but we're missing a whole bunch. I also noticed that the lawyer for the guy wasn't trying to say too much and wanted to settle out of court right away.

i bet you're right that he had a big mouth or previous for something unpleasant.

or maybe the cops was just an arsehole and the guy needed the money for some personal crisis...credit crunch. rent to pay. maybe doctor's fees for his sick wife or a brace for his daughter's teeth. didn't want the stress of a drawn out court case.

a cop is representing the law
the use of that taser was inapproriate, disgusting, and illegal imo

over here - if he was mouthing off, he gets arrested. cuffed, put in the car/van, taken to be processed. NOT tasered. He didn't appear to be armed in the footage, and the officers must have training to deal with a rowdy guy that doesn't involve firearms or tasers. We all wish our law enforcement officers to be kept as safe as possible in dangerous situations, but that does not mean they can act so freakin irresponsibly with no comeback. Damn, night-sticks are bad enough. Mostly our cops man handle and cuff. But there have been misuses of power by cops here too - but we go nuts about it. They have to be seen to be acting legally, effectively, and without prejudice. Well, in a perfect world that is ... . We didn't see a that happened, but from a legal standpoint there was no justification for the use of that taser - it's not a flamin Mel Gibson movie. Why is the person who got it in the neck being held as responsible for that officer's actions?

The cop caught him for speeding, but let him go because my roommate had a shaved head. The cop did, too. And, before driving off, the cop showed him his swastika tattoos.

I don't envy good cops. They've got a lot of twats in their ranks to deal with.
