Now I understand the Nutt Sacked thread title.
I didn't open it.
Didn't he know government was stupid when he took the job?
At any rate, the basketball coach at our local college is Dickey Nutt...
'Ere!

Ecstasy has the same amount of risk as riding a horse?
You all need to learn how to train your horses.

I still find it amazing that even in this day and age that people are still shocked to find that governments are about politics. Whenever governments stick their nose into anything, be it medicine, any of the sciences, anything at all, rational thought take a back seat to whatever political scheme is trying to be sold by one party or another.

Their job is making enough money and connections in their short time in office that they can blackmail people into continuing to pay them if they want to maintain their own money and connections.

That's not government sticking its nose into medicine.
That's medicine sticking its nose into government.

[as per Hayak]
Once government gets into the business of rewarding and favoring groups, groups will compete for rewards and favors.

Well, certainly, that's true.
But I think you have to look more toward Mussolini in order to understand this particular symbiosis.

What makes ecstasy dangerous is buying it off the street, not knowing what's in it, where it's been cooked up and by whom.
Same with heroin. Heroin won't kill anybody if it's medical grade, as long as the doses are measured. It's the stuff they cut it with on the street to sell and make a profit that makes it deadly.
