Does Barack Hussein Obama REALLY want to hunt down and fight Al Qaeda?
I don't think so or he would not be playing hardball with Israel.
I think he's just playing out his right war rhetoric until he can find a way the hell out of the mess he's gotten himself into.
Quote:
The flow of Al Qaida fighters to the Gaza Strip has continued despite Hamas's crackdown. In August 2009, Hamas forces raided a Rafah mosque controlled by the Al Qaida-aligned Jund Ansar Allah and killed the group's leader and more than 20 other operatives.
"Following Hamas's mini-crackdown, the Salafi groupings have continued to grow," Jonathan Spyer, senior research fellow at the Global Research in International Affairs Center, said. "No clear line exists between them and the more moderate Islamists of Hamas."
The sources said the new arrivals have been training members of at least two Al Qaida-aligned militias and were bolstering other groups. The militias were identified as the Army of Islam and the Army of Allah, both of which began as criminal gangs associated with the Fatah movement.
The influx of Sunni operatives was said to have been financed by elements within the Gulf Cooperation Council, particularly countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The sources said these countries have sought to prevent the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip from expanding its alliance with Iran and its proxy, Hizbullah.
"Hamas now faces a powerful Sunni opposition to Iranian infiltration and influence," the source said. "The Al Qaida people would also oppose any directive by Iran to suspend the war against Israel."
The sources said Israel's intelligence community detected an Al Qaida presence in the Gaza Strip as early as 2001. But they said Gulf Arabs and Al Qaida began pouring in money and operatives into the Gaza Strip in 2008 after the Hamas regime rejected Saudi demands to end its alliance with Iran.
The intelligence community has determined that Al Qaida and its Gulf financiers would increase aid and bolster the flow of operatives to the Gaza Strip.
The sources said Al Qaida wants to build a movement similar to Shabab in Somalia, or a well-financed Islamic opposition that could easily recruit operatives and supporters.
"Hamas is very worried over the influx of the Al Qaida people, and has conducted several raids of Army of Islam," the source said.

This was the "right" war...
But we're only going to half fight it.
Barack wants a little taste of surge knowing how badly it failed under Betrayus in Iraq...
Meanwhile, the enemy melts away in the face of strength and goes to where they know Obama is weak...

Hadn't been keeping up on all that, I'm too concerned about the US economy but Al Qaeda fighting with Hamas. These guys are control freaks but wouldn't it be smarter to join forces? then attack Israel?

So you're saying because Bush invaded Afghanistan, it's his fault that Al Qaeda is expanding into Gaza?

AJ, do you think President Obama should give Israel a de facto veto over American foreign policy like Dubya did?

Nope. But it's certainly arguable that Al Quaida's membership has expanded because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hardly. That's where Bin Laden and his crew were holed up. While Dubya dithered in Iraq, they escaped into Pakistan.
There's no strategic need to remain in Afghanistan any longer.

Expanded yes, but its part of an overall plan by Al Qaeda, starting back in the 80's in Somalia

You don't get sarcasm because you lack the ability to read with comprehension and there was NEVER any sold proof that Osama was at Tora Bora; that intel came from the same people who confirmed Saddam's WMD's...
If you had paid attention to the grilling of Clinton, the bombing strategy being advocated by Biden is pissing off the average Pakistani every time he/she sees innocents killed and makes them empathetic towards the Taliban...
And there IS no reason to be there, but Obama won;t quit this close to an election and with his "signature" legislation still hanging in the balance, he cares more about socialist tyranny being imposed than he worries about Islamic tyranny being imposed abroad.

Al Qaeda's main aim is to topple moderate Arab and Muslim regimes, therefore, Egypt should be very nervous. If Obama sits on this, figuring out what to do, its going to be too late. Obama needs to press Arabs, not Israel
