Vasectomy question for my hubby...

...Who made the unfortunate mistake of asking in the GB instead of here.
Poor guy has now run away from Lit.

We've found out we're about to have a second kid, and decided that we want this to be our last. He's planning a Vasectomy, and I'm asking the Doc to handle my side when she does the Csection.

His biggest question, however, was if he'll still cum. I told him that it still happens, but there's nothing potent to it. He wasn't sure if that was right or not. After having a few cousins born after poorly done vasectomies, I'm fairly certain I'm right on this... but to make him happy, I'll ask here.

If he's having a vasectomy, why would you have anything done? Early menopause is no fun [shudder]

yes, he still has semen, just no sperm in it. Generally, it's recommended that he has his semen checked and come up with no sperm x 3 (after surgery) for a vasectomy to be considered successful.

He'll still cum. His cum is currently only 6-7% sperm. The volume of his ejaculate will be reduced by 6-7%.

Also, what everybody else said about getting tested. You'll need to make sure the pipes are clean. His Dr. should cover this.

Just to be sure.
Though he has been trying to convince me otherwise; to simply go with one of those T inserts. I'm just leery on those because the majority of them seem to be made with metals, and I have allergies to pretty much every type of metal. I'd really hate to have a reaction to something embedded in THERE.

He said that he'd gladly get the surgery done after everything I've gone through to have the kid(s).
Phrase it that way since #2 means going through it once more...

That's what I thought. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure the Dr he talked to about it did say he'd have him come in at least 3x to get his stats with how well it took, and that he'd still need to use a condom until the levels were 100% cleared.

I'm allergic to metals so I got a plastic implant. Talk to your doctor see what he can do!

Equipment Still Works

I had my vasectomy 20 years ago and I can assure you that he will still cum. There is no major change in function other than the volume is a bit smaller (and of course lacks the "active ingredient"). The sensations are the same.

Honestly, the last thing you want after you've just had a baby is early menopause; I can't imagine anything worse (and might play havoc with breastfeeding, if you intend to do so). If you don't trust the vasectomy 100% then why have it done? All contraception is effort in some way.

I have sought out advice on having something similar for myself for various reasons and have been advised that it is definitely a last resort. The more I read about it, the less appealing it sounds!

Maybe she is just getting her tubes tied? I didn't think they did hysterectomies unless there was a reason. Granted, where I live, they won't even tie my tubes since I don't have any kids and I didn't bring my husband in to approve it.

They don't do tubal ligations in the UK? Here, for birth control, a woman can get her fallopian tubes "tied," just like a man can get a vasectomy. Tubal ligation is a much more involved procedure than a vasectomy, but some women choose to have it done for various reasons. It does NOT affect the ovaries, uterus, or put a woman into menopause.

What you seem to be talking about it a total hysterectomy or ovary removal. That's not done for birth control purposes by any competent doctor here (or in the UK, I'm sure). It's only indicated when a woman has severe problems with her ovaries and/or uterus, like cancer or bad endometriosis.

Oh, yes, yes- That's all I was referring to.
I didn't mean for it to come off as wanting a hysterectomy.

On one of my other online haunts, a woman said that her male relative/in-law had a vasectomy something like 10-15 years ago, and he and his wife were still using condoms because he had been too embarrassed to provide the samples for sperm testing.

I find it a little funny; when we had our son, he was all proud of himself that he "wasn't shooting blanks". With this one, it was "Ha, they still got it in there...."

...And now he WANTS to shoot blanks.

You never did sound like you meant a hysterectomy, I think Firebrain may just be confused about what tubal ligation involves.

The others are right, vasectomy will not affect your man's performance.

I assume you posted this for entertainment value.

To remove any doubt for any guy considering this, the people working in the Dr.s' office deal with this all the time. When I got mine done, I just walked in and handed them a brown paper lunch bag and told them I needed to get it tested. They just nonchalantly took it and said they'd call with the results. No big deal.

I posted it because I could. It wasn't being offered as advice, hence the at the end of the post.

Nothing changed when I had it done, other than no longer having to worry about "accidents." My sex drive is as powerful as it ever was, still getting off 2 or 3 times a day, whether on my own or with another person.

In the UK, a woman can request a hysterectomy as a man can request a vasectomy, if she has valid grounds.

My husband and I decided that we didn't want anymore children and he considered a vasectomy, but would never actually make the appointment to go to the dr...chicken. Anyways, I ended up with an IUD, Meridia. I love it. It's good for 5 years. It's plastic. My cycle is little to none. It was covered by my insurance, so it was a 20.00 co pay and his balls never went under the knife!

Wow! I'm amazed! In the US a doctor will only do a hysterectomy as a last resort for major female problems. NO licensed doctor would do one for the purpose of birth control! He would probably loose his licence!

If they do it for birth control, you'd think they would take just the uterus and leave the ovaries. With no uterus, pregnancy would be impossible, and by leaving her ovaries, she won't go through menopause! UK doctors sound like they take things too far and do unnecessary procedures! That's just crazy!

ETA: My fiance had a vasectomy before we met and he sill cums plenty! He sure knows how to make a mess!

I guess it depends on what her "valid grounds" are, I suppose. My best friend works in sexual health so I get to hear a lot of things (or rants, lol).
