The battle had raged for many months,years it seemed. Finally a calmness descended the isle,surviving warriors stood atop the precipice and bowed their heads as the flaming dinghy bore their last leader out to see in his final funerl pyre. Even in death he was a mighty man,a brave man. The remaining survivors of his clan each knelt down in his honor,the lone femal almost dwarfed by the size of her kinsmen. She was Brynhildr feirce viking warrior,her lithe body covered in her armour and the blood of the fallen. She held tightly to a small package her leader had given her before he died,the hilt of his sword. The blade had been placed with another worthy warrior unknown to her.

He bade her to keep the swords pieces apart and only bring them together when needed. She held dearly onto that priceless package as the setting sun swallowed up his fiery body. She remained longer than the others just staring off across the waters.Her waist length black hair blew around her lithe figure,she was considered tall for a female standing at 5 foot 10 but her male counterparts put that to shame with their 6 foot 8 and taller frames. She held her own in a fight and had gained the respect of most of them. She finally turned to her stamping steed and with little problem swung up onto the saddle. Clicking her heels she turned him westward. they had orders to disband and rejoin only when the danger arose once more wether in this life time or the next.

Bryn(as she was now calling herself) moved along the lines of people stopping to admire the rows of photos she had down for this show,her smile told of her happiness.She still look as she did those many centuries earlier but gone now was the armour and battle gear. Replaced by tight jeans and belly shirt,her hair still hun low behind her knee and her pale eyes always on the lookout for anything to cause a notice. She still had her broadsword in her home and her daggers usuaaly on each thigh under her clothes. But other than that she looked lik your typical new york art curator.

This day did prove to be any different,she smiled and took the compliments of her work when the hair on her neck stood up. She slowly panned the room and if he had been several feet shorter he would have seemed like any other guy. She knew this was one of her fellow warriors,why now. Why was he here now,she had hid the sword hilt away where noone would find it.She needed to leave before he saw her,he still brought butterflies to her stomach even in this time era. He was a massive 6 foot 8,yellow gold hair and deep green eyes. his body was that of a true warrior buffed up and toned.

"Nadia....I need to go check on some incoming supplies.I will be back later."She told her secretary as she looked back once more and hopefully didnt catch his eye yet. She lifted her leather coat on and slid out the side door to lean her heAd back against the wall of the alley. She had to get her bearings. Why now? Its been centuries and the evil ones had surely died out by now.

Lance, named so for the weapon that had done his father in all those centuries ago, scanned the room. He was still somewhat taken aback at the ways in which the world had changed, but for his seal to the eternal vigilance he would have been dust long ago. He stood in an art gallery, drawn there in search of his dedicated kin. He had come here to find her, the one whom had been given the task of hiding the hilt of their great fallen leader

He stood tall amongst the crowd, his large 6'8 frmae was laden with muscle, he was half again as broad as any other man in the room adn dispite his size he moved through the room with a grace that would have been known for deadly by ages turned to dust in the past. Here and now he seemed only to be a man, if rather large, moving throuhg a crowd. His long black leather coat hung over his body, covering the long bladed dagers he had on either hip adn his eyes constantly scanned, he could feel her here. He could feel it.

Scanning through the room he saw pleasantly dressed men and women talking idly of this and that about the art in the showcase. Then he saw a glimmer of lang dark hair as she turned down a hall adn then through the door. Wasting no time he quickly persued her, had she seen him, if so why had she left, surely she would know why he was here. Surely she must ahve felt him close to her as he had felt her. Hte questions adn possible implications ran through his mind as he steped through the door after her.

Bryn took a deep breath and pushed away from the wall,she knew he would follow her,she just didnt want it to occur in the midst of the crowd. She turned and looked at the closed door,the wind blew her hair about her face,she felt her breath quicken,wether it by the thought of returning to battle or the thought of it being Lance who had been sent for her.

She kept her stare fixed on the large steel door,her mind wandering back to the years past how he had helped her to hone her skills and even managed to find her heart. She had kept those feelings to herself when he had married,she vowed then she would stay alone.She watched as the door slowly pushed open.

Gently nudging the door open, Lance saw her in the shadows watching the door, he stepped in. THe door closed behind him with a soft click that filled the silence. His eyes drank her in, he had not seen her in millenia and he had to admit the garb of this time fit her well, those tight pants showed off her shape quite well.

"Byrd it seems as though it has been forever" he said as he took a step into the room towards her

"You know why I am here, are you ready to fullfill your pledge?" he asked her, knowing full well what she would say. Memories form all those ages ago filled his head, her smile as he trained her, the quick whit and fierce hadns that she had used to gain respect among those warriors. But most of all he recalled the unshed tears in her eyes when she had taken her last look at the fallen leader, he thought she had loved him. Then he had seen the unshed tears when he had wed, he had never known.

"It is good to see you agian"

Bryn watched as Lance's form filled the space before her, after all these years she still felt awe and respect in his presence. She lowered her head into a quick bow before raising her eyes to look up at him once more. "Aye..I know.."She spoke in a strong voice. "Why now..The others have not shown theirselves in many years."

She tried to keep the fluttering of her heart under control. Listening to the voices from beyond the door she knew this was not the place to discuss this. She strightened her shoulders and even then the top of her head just hit below his chin. "Lets go back to my place where we can talk."She said factly as she moved past him and through the door. She told her secretary she was leaving for the day and taking the weekend off knowing that she might not make it back come Monday.

As she led him across the few blocks to her small house on the edge of town,never learning to drive she preferred to walk everywhere. She hated the silence between them. "How is Aeona?"Asking about his wife wondering if she cared he was here now and if he had any children that looked like him.

Lance followed as she lead. He had enjoyed watching her turn and head back k into the party, she was a well formed woman and the pants she wore had been snug and tight over her tight round rump. They headed off in silence at first but at her question he glanced around the street and seeing they were far from any ears.

"She and my family are dead. The others have been busy and before I came to you I went searching out some of the twenty left behind, of the ten I k we all are dead, all on the last three months. The others are moving and they are whittling us away. I came to find you for what you have and in hopes that I was not too late. We will leave and search for any others but I do not know where they are. Do you have any clues?" he asked as they walked through the robust streets. The turns of civilization had been so amzing to experience as the globe changed over the ages but he missed his time, their time. He had however enjoyed the freedom woman had taken, he had always enjoyed their form and as ten trudged on there attire had slowly slid away. He had enjoyed seeing Brynn in her tight form hugging clothes, he had always known her for a well formed woman. The talk of his family brought dark thoughts of coming home to a burning house and their jodhes torn and knawed. He had loved them dearly and his wife had been a jewel, he never should have married knowing what his station might bring, but he had loved her and she had died for it

Bryn listened to his words and could feel the saddness when he spoke of his family. She looked at him and even though he still looked like the warrior she knew,she could sense his turmoil at their dwindling ranks. Only 10 left..how could that be she thought to herself. They should have felt the others if they were in trouble. She led him into her small house,stopping inside the door to remove her coat.

She kept her house as simple as she could since material items couldnt be moved easily if she had to go quickly. One item she had kept a secret all the centuries and now it was time to bring it out once more. She stopped before the large bay window that overlooked the cove,the waves beat upon the rocks as the setting sun lit them with its orange rays.

"I still have the hilt,but I cant understand how our brothers have fallen without us knowing they needed help. Are the ones after us so much more stronger now?"She asked him turning slowly to look up at him.

She met his gaze solidly,he had always taught her to never back down or flinch in the heat of battle. She had carried those teachings with her all this time. "I am also sorry to hear of the loss of your family. You have to cherish the thought of having those to care about with you in your heart. I have never had to deal with those types of emotions in a long time. Not since...well thats all in the past now."She said softly.

"You do realise once we join the sword,we could wind up back in our time,or in another we dont know yet.'She said remembering their fallen leaders words about joining the sword.

Bryn moved around Lance and down a hallway,she lifted her top,not once did she feel uncomfortable around him. Dropping it as she went. Once inside her bedroom she opened a drawer and pulled out what looked like a bikini top. She slid her tight p[ants down and slid the bottoms of the suit on. "COme with me. I will get the hilt of the sword."She told him moving back around him and a few seconds later they stood on the bluff of the cove.

She gave him one quick look back and lifted her arms as if a silent prayer to the gods before one graceful leap took her airborne. Her body knifed through the air and into a perfect dive into the waters below. She could hold her breathe for several long moments but she knew the underwater cave was near. SHe swam quickly through the waters and then broke through the surface to be surrounded by the airpocket in the cave. Crystals gleamed around her as she slid onto the small alcove. The wrapped leather box in front of her on a small altar.

Lance had followed her home. The last few blocks had been traveled in silence. The topic becoming far too personal for Lance, he preferred to leave the dead buried.

The house they came to sat on a hill and the back looked out over the bay. Inside the small home was quaint and in remarkable.

As she traversed the halls he followed, he could not help but smile as she peeledher top off, it was good to see that the ages had done nothing to mar that perfect full breasted chest. Her legs and backside were all the more enticing as Lan e flet the siren of flesh call to him, what was he thinking, this was Brynn. Perhaps that was it exactly, this was Brynn and she ha said that the past was in the past, well time certainly played a different tune for them.

He realized that she was leaving out the back and he followed her to the edge of the bluff and with no warning she kept, leave it to her to have it hidden so dramatically, he thought with a smile as he watched her form tumble to the waves. Slowly he shed his coat, checking his two blades he leapt after her. Wind whipping through his golden hair he saw her splash and INS few moments he was following her shadowy form into a dark cave

Breaking the water he marveled at the place. Light trickled in through cracks above and sparkled off the crystal lined walls

"A fitting stash" he told her as he lifted himself ip onto the ledge. From here it will only get worse he thought as he eyes Brynn. Her full bosom with water trickling over her scant top. Her long dark hair plastered to her back this peace may be the last that they know. And where is the peace in running from an ancient evil and seeking the only weapon to find it as a sacred clan of warriors saved from time to guard it are dying off, be chuckled, peace was a myth.

Bryn looked over at Lance his form filling the small space of the cave,her thighs brushing against his. She lifted wet lashes up to peer at him. "I figured noone would find it here."She spoke softly as if afraid to upset any unresting spirits around. She felt the heat from Lance and all the desires of the past she had came flooding back to her.

"I shed tears for our leader when he fell in battle, I shed tears for you when you wed,now I feel like the tears that threaten are for our dying race."She said softly not realising what she had said about crying for him. SHe moved and lifted the wrapped hilt from its place.

"We cannot join the two halves here,it must be somewhere in the open and away from other eyes. Once the sword is joined if anything hapoens to it we will be physically bound to it." She looked up at him.

"We will be joined no matter where we are once we merge the two. With you being the stronger dominate male you will possess the sword at all times. I will know if anything happens to you. Others will find you through me and the bond."She said quietly waiting and watching for his reaction.

His eyes widened at the mention of tears for his wedding bit the reaction passed quickly. He glanced down at the hilt in her hand. It was an ornate golden piece that glowed in the crystaline light of the cave. Twin dragons wrappedtogethermaking the handle, they came together and their spread wings sprawled out to make the crossguard and their heads shot up on either side to brace a missing blade. Twin bloodstones set in their eyes glistening with a dull red that would come to life when they held the blade.

He leaned over to speak softly in the cave " I fear the time for tears has not yet passed but we musthold to our course." he put an arm around her for a brief moment, the heat of herbosy inviting in this wondrous place.


" The blade is secreted away and we must see if any survive before we join the two, once they are merged the others will know. Let's go back to your him and make some preparations" he said but did not stir, there was a great peace be did not want to disturb, the two of them there together.

Bryn leaned into his embrace for a split second and then pulled back. She nodded at him and with a quick breath followed him back out through the secret entrance. She had seen him secured the box to his belt and knew it was safe. She pushed through the waters with her long legs,he out distanced her quickly. She gave a hard kick with her legs,suddenly pain flashed through her ankle.

Her kick sent her feet close to the rocks,her ankle became caught. She raised her head seeing his form fading upwards through the water,she could not call out to him. She felt a moment of panic when her chest began to tighten with her held breath. She blew several small pockets of air to relieve some of the pressure but knew she was running out of air fast. She reached down and pulled at her foot,blood swirled around and upward as the rough,sharp stones cut into her skin.

Lance's head broke the water and he drew a deep breath, the sun warm on his face as he bobbed on the waves. Waiting only a moment he knew something was wrong, drawing a deep breath he dove back down to the cave. A few strong strokes and he saw her. She was stuck, he gave her a yank and realized she was stuck. He followed along her legs were her foot was caught, in a moment he hadbher free, throwing an arm over her shoulder he raced to the surface. Quickly he dragged her to a flat rock, the water lapping up one side. Hauling her up he heaved on her chest and water spewed out. Putting his lips to hers he breathes into her, hand returning to her chest, his finders spilling onto her form breasts he heaved a few beats. In moments he was coughing and spluttering.

Bryn coughed and gagged,the saltwater spewed from her mouth and nose. She opened her eyes and saw Lance above her,his face actually held a look of worry. She sat up slowly and looked down at her gashed ankle and calf,she lifted a hand and pushed her hair out of her face.

"Thanks,I feel like a fool."She whispered to him as she looked at him. Leaning on him she stood slowly testing her ankle for stability.

She noticed he looked amazing standing by her,soaked,his hair hanging in wet tendrils around his face. Like the sea god Poseiden rising from the briny froth. She blushed at the way her mind was going with his closeness.

"Just glad I got you in time" he said with a wink, " now let's get you back inside and see to dressing that" he said as he glanced down to her ankle. Sliding an arm around her waist to support her he followed the rocks, an almost natural staircase in the stone. Her warm body beside him was inviting as each glance at her seemed to slide to her full breasts on her top, the cool air making her nipples hard and he could male them out against the fabric.

Soon they were inside and he had her sitting on the couch, with a small first aid kit he cleaned the gash along the top of her foot. A small thing but he felt good in pampering Brynn, this would be the last small comfort foe some time he feared. Finishing wrapping it he said

" I am gonna go rinse off and change into some dry clothes, let me help you upstairs so you can change too" he told her as it dawned on him the only full bath be had seen was on her room, where the omahe of her naked back came back to mind, his heart beating faster for it.

Soon in her room he helped her to the bed, he stripped his shirt off and tossed it to a corner, his tall muscles torso was crossed over and back with scars from centuries of battle and his muscles were thick slabs under his taught skin. "Need amy help or anything before I hop in" he asked as he stood over her where she sat on the edge of her bed.

Bryn let him help her first back to her house and then upstairs to her room. She watched as he pulled his top off and the scars she saw had her fading back to the days they fought side by side. She had her own share of scars,not as many but enough to make her self concious if anyone looked too long at her back and legs. They were not real prominent scars but to her they were,the worse and noticeable scar was across her shoulder blades,a sword and a cheap shot landed her that one in the last battle. She had not let many know of the wound,turning to a healer from their clan to help her make it through the 3 days of fever that set in from it.

She shook her head and stood slowly moving over close to him. Her hand reached out to trace several scars along his back as he faced away from her. Her touch soft and gentle but she knew that he knew how hard her touch could really become. "SO many reminders of a life that has lasted for a long time. So many scars for so many lifes lost. Not just of family anf friends,but people we never knew,just killed."She said softly running across each raised patch of skin on his upper back. She felt his intake of breath and pulled back when she realised what she had been doing.

"Each scar a memory , a gfi ute to those fallen and thanks to Oden for seeing another day dawn. I must admit there have been times I was certain I'd not see the next day, but the gods are not done with us yet" he said before he turned around to face her. The heat from her body palpable in the cool room. Her beauty filling his eyes he smiled at her

"It truly is good to see you well Bryn, I have thought of you in the days that passed since we were last together" he told her as he lifted a hand to push a stray strand of hair back over her shoulder

Bryn looked up at her friend,mentor,and secret love. Her eyes reflecting in his own,her hand reached up to touch his cheek gently. "You have been my true friend,you taught me so much. I would not have lived this long if not for remembering the things you taught me. Made me feel,each time we fought and yelled at each other."She said softly smiling at the memories of their many fights,each pushing the others buttons on how far to go.

"I loved you then like a teacher,friend and..."She let it trail off there not sure if she should admit her feelings. Taking a deep breath she turned and walked over to the open window,her hair billowing out around her from the sea wind. Her eyes staring out across the waves.

"I think I have always loved you.... When you wed I felt as if part of me had died. I left that night,not really caring what happened. I got into many fights,some I couldnt handle. Others I was too brutal in my grief."She said softly afriad to turn around and see his reaction.

"When I lay abed with a raging fever from a sword slash across my shoulders,the healer told me I only spoke of you. When I healed I decided to leave the lands altogether."She felt a tear slide down her cheek. "When we fought in battle.not only was I fighting for my people,I was fighting for you."She let her words hang in the air,she did not hear a sound from behind her.

She moved to the door quickly her hand resting on the knob. "Feel freet o use anything you need in the bathroom...I will go make some coffee."She suddenly fel vulnerable and embarrassed for showing a moment of weakness.

Lance simply stood there and watched her go. He had always thought that sheight have felt lore for h then the awe some teachers got from their pupils and when she had disappeared after being wed he was all but certain. Yet hearing it from her had been something yet again. He turned and went into the bathroom and starting the water

The noise of the water and the heat filling the room be shed his clothes. Years flew back and he remembered all the battles they had been through all those times he struggled to find her sand had felt joy beyond remembering each time he did find her, seeing that she had not fallen that day. It had hurt to learn of her pain and anger at the cards she was dealt, yet he could not avoid that same joy at being here with her and finding her well

Slowly he lathered and cleaned himself, occasionally the image of her sliding out of her tank top to dawn the bikin top, the way her breasts had felt so fi beneath his hands as he had pumped the water from her lungs, and the soft feel of her pips as he had breathed for her. She was an exquisite woman and he had to do his best to deny that

Drying off he kept the towel wrapped about his waist as he gathered his still wet clothes and went downstairs to find her and her dryer, not wishing to squeeze back into his wet clothes

"Bryn?" he called " Can I use your dryer?"

Bryn looked up,startled from her thoughts as he entered the kitchen. She set her cup down and nodded. She stood and took the wet clothes from him and placed them inside the dryer in the small room off the kitchen. She came back and leaned agaisnt the doorframe to look at him.

"So where do we go from here? You said there were a handful of us left. Where are they?"She asked him feeling her cheeks flush with heat.

She began to speak again but was cut off as the tribal tattoo they all had on their upper arm began to burn. She hissed and grabbed her arm. The heat intensified and she let out a gasp through gritted teeth sinking to her knees.

"Wha..what is happening?"she managed to hiss out.

Lance had felt the heat rise in his arm as well, the glyphs growing red n his flesh as the warning seeped through them

"One of ours is dead. I ahve felt this before. You have to be close enough to them for the warning to work. I knew Vlagard to be no more then ahundred miles form here, but th others I know are too far. He was to be our next stop but this means they are close. We need to get moving, we will have to save our tears for another day" he told her as he stepped close to her, putting his hadns on her shoulders and turning her to him.

"This is going to get worse before it gets better, but I promise it will get better. I am sorry for the tears I have caused you, but you must know that it is not done. Our life has been a cruel jest at best adn it seems that after all these years death still comes too soon for us, we must evade it yet for our task is not done." he told her this while gazing into her crisp beautiful eyes, he could see the tears fading adn the resolve setting in, yet he could not avoi the beauty in her face, adn the warm heat of her flesh under his hand. Suddenly he was very aware that he was standing there in a towel.

"Lets gather what we can take fom here adn then we can get a ca to town, we will rent a car their adn make all haste to the north, Maine." he told her as he let his hadns slide down her arms, pausing for a second at her wrists, then he turned to the cupboards, working while he waited for his clothes to dry adn Bryn called a cab.

Fuck another brother lost, they were moving to slow, adn their enemy too fast. had all these centuries been for nothing, were they destined to be slaina fter all this time like a famrboy fending off a viking raid?

bryn rubbed her arm and nodded at his words,her heart ached for the loss of another brother-in-arms. Soon they would be wiped out if they didnt move and make a plan of attack. She phoned the cab company and ordered a cab,they had 30 miutes before it would arrive. Maine? He had said Maine. They didnt have much time..the trip would be long and grueling but one they had to make.

"The cab will be here in 30 miutes,thats the soonest."She told him softly moving to the doorway of the kitchen. "Is this battle one we can win..or is it one we will unable to conquer?"She asked him looking at him with her large eyes.

She took a deep breath as the old warrior in her sprung back to life at the slight noise. She stopped mid sentence and held her hand up to him. Her head cocked as she listened. "I heard something....My security alarms should have sounded."She spoke in a hushed whisper,her instincts kicking in just in time.

The window beside her head exploded inward,spraying glass over her. She hit the floor and in a rolling motion came up in front of him. She turned in time to see the large man coming throught the window,the evil that poured from his skin filled the room. They had run out of time. Bryn moved away from Lance putting room between the two of them,circling slowly she needed to get into the living room. Her sword concealed behind the fake wall behind the couch.

Lance watched as Bryn paused listneing to something, her head turning to the side as she held her hand up.

"My alarms should have sounded" she said adn then the window exploded inward. A long lithe form flowed through the windo adn landed crouching on the floor, slowly standing up the broad haunched form ahd the shape of a man, but its proportions were all wrong. The room wnet cold as mist seemed to roll fom the cold pale skin of the thing. Coming to its full height its head barely missing the ceiling and its long arms were corded with muscles, they ended in broad long fingered hands, but the fingers were more long white talons then actual fingers. Its head lifting off of its chest its eyes followed Bryn as she moved to the side, dividing its attention. Opening a gruesome mall, mist rolled out as it hissed

"Where issssss ittt" it hissed in a long slow draw that seemed to come from a frozen mouth that was barely able to form the words. Lance glanced over and grabbed a long carving blade from the knife rack on the counter.

"It is nowhere you can go or find blasted one. It is time for your hunting to end" he told it as he lashed out with the blade. A long craping sound, like nails on a chalkboard. rang out as the blade drew across the creatures elbow, but the knife parted the skin, severing the tnedons on the arm instantly dissabling the creaures left hand. As he struck the creature lashed out with its right arm, the impossibly long limb scraping over Lances head as he ducked under the blow. Lance dropped down adn spun, whipping his legs around to sweep the creatures leg out from under neath it, but it danced back adn he only caught one leg making the thing stagger back.

"Go bryn" he yelled as he struck out at it again, gaining its full attention but the creature fended off the blow with its frozen bladed hand, sending sparks to the air.

Bryn jumped over a chair and around the fighting duo,her eyes focused on the secret wall in front of her. Her hand flashed out and touched a tile next to it,sliding open her sword..Valkyrie rested. Her hand grasped it cool hilt and she felt a rush as unused energy flowed through her hand. Turning she raced back into the kitchen.

"Heyahhh!!!!"She cried out as she spung into the fray and her blade making contact with the flesh of the Blasted ones shoulder,the roar it unleashed filled the small room.

The sounds of steel on steel,hands on flesh rang out as they fought,this creature was stronger than any she had encountered. He seemed fuled by something other worldly. She slipped on the blood that had been spilled from all three of them and hit the ground hard,jarring her teeth in her head. She shook it off and flipped back up to her feet to take a stance beside Lance as the creature seemed to stop.

He seemed to be dazed but he wasnt. It was almost like he was listening to a voice in its head. Bryn became aware of the energy increase around them,she had felt it before in her last time jump. She gasped as the heat flooded over her and Lance. She turned her head to look up at him in time to see his images become fuzzy. Her hand reached out to grab his arm,keeping contact with him as not to wind up in different location when they arrived whereever it was going to be. Her last thought was Damnnit as her mind went black.

Bryn groaned as she slowly came back to her sens and her stomach rolled from the jump. She bent over and lost the contents of her stomach. Wiping her hand across the back of her mouth she slowly looked around. Her eyes went wide when she realised they were now back in their original time. Her skin chilled and she looked down to find she was once again dressed as the warrior she was when sheleft many years ago.
