A Different Kind of Studying (closed for carmellafdamon)

19-year old Adrian McDonald was absolutely exhausted. His training session at 6pm had turned into a 5-hour nightmare, ending with interviews with national newspapers.

Adrian was touted to be best up-and-coming sprinter on the east coast. But he hated all the extra attention. He had much preferred when he was blazing up the track on his own.

He arrived back at his dorm building, dreading the night of studying ahead of him. Tomorrow he had a defining test on whether he would be still at the university next year. He wasn't stupid, but all the time he dedicated to his running definitely affected his academic performance.

He trudged into the dorm lounge and over to the fridge. He picked up a water bottle and headed for a table. He then the single light in the corner. Sitting there was a pretty girl whom Adrian recognised from his class that his test was on tomorrow. Adrian knew he would need all the help he could get to pass this test. Moving over, he said,

"Hi, you're in my psychology class, no?"

"Yeah" Lauren said softly. Lauren Wilson was a 18 year old freshman at the University. A lean body standing at 5'6" with large D cup breasts and a bubble butt. She worked out all the time she wasn't studying as she had very little when it came to a social life. She automatically who it was, Adrian McDonald. Lauren was a little surprised he spoke to her as she was just a shy brunette in librarian glasses and he was on the cover of the school newspaper.

"Oh good. I hope you don't me asking, but I'm really stuck for this exam tomorrow. And if I don't pass, there is a good chance I'll fail. I can't risk that. But if you want me to leave you alone, just say so."

He was in trouble. He wasn't stupid, but the amount of time he spent on the track definitely affected his studies.

She looked up at the tall lean young man. A small smile split her red lips.

"What can I do for you, I'm more than happy to help." Lauren shuffled her feet in her flip flops on the ground as she spoke. Unable to fully speak with her dry, nervous throat, she coughed lightly to make herself sound less hoarse.

"I'm doing pretty well so I know what I'm doing," she said instantly regretting it. 'That sounds so arrogant' she thought to herself.

Adrian smiled,

"I know you are, that's why I asked. You're always answering questions in class so I reckoned you must know something. It might come as a surprise, but it's the ego topic", chuckling to himself.

She blushed a deep scarlet and rubbed her hot forward. 'Jesus Christ' she thought, 'He is going to think I'm a smarty pants.'

"Ohh, yeah I know," Lauren responded trying to giggle. She held up her psychology book. "I'm studying the same thing."

"Oh good. You seriously don't mind helping me out?"

He sat down next to this very cute girl. He had noticed her in class for a few weeks now. Not many knew this, but Adrian was kinda shy when it came to women. He wasn't the typical campus famous jock, just a normal guy with exceptional quick feet.

"No problem," she said as he moved closer to her. Lauren's arms and back erupted with goosebumps as she felt him so near to her. "So the test is basically over chapters 10-12 and the lecture notes. You can use mine, I'm a little anal with my notes, so there should be more than enough for you." She spoke quickly without breathing, extremely nervous.

Adrian could feel the reaction he was having on her. He had seen many times before. But he had never mastered on how to deal with it.

"Thanks", taking her notes from her. 'Wow', he thought,' These are thorough'.

He sat there in silence for a good 20 mintues reading and re-reading her notes.

Lauren sat quietly letting him read her notes. She never did this as she worked hours on in to make them perfect. Other people didn't deserve to profit off of her hard work....but he was different. He could. She squirmed from time to time to relieve the tension from sitting in the same place. After some time passed, Lauren gained the courage to speak.

"Our professor says the memory works best when you study in different places. It helps track memories of new information...like when your studying for a test. Any ideas?"

Adrian only realised she was talking halfway through.

"I'm sorry, what did you say? I have a habit of doing that. These are great by the way. I'm understanding this a lot better now. Thanks", flashing her one of his rare smiles.

She could only smile back at his beautiful smile. "Um...our professor thinks we should study in different places to help the information stick. Do you have any ideas?"

[the_economist]

"Am ya, I'd love to study in different places. But I've only got so much time and so much to cover."

Adrian hated how that came out. He had the best intentions, but sometimes his serious attitude to life led to him being very frank at times.

A little taken aback, Lauren was able to say a light, "ok" before returning her embarrassed eyes to her book. "That's ok, its probably bullshit anyway."

Adrian saw the look on her face. He had to handle this.

"Look I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to sound like that. It's just I'm under a lot of pressure right now and I guess I'm just letting get to me a little. You seem like a nice girl. Please don't hate me.".

He reached out and touched her arm.

She couldn't help but smile as he grabbed her arm softly. "How could I hate you?" she asked, more to herself than to him. "I understand that you are under a lot of pressure.....I'm sure its tough for you."

Adrian smiled,

"You're the first person to say in a while. You have no idea what that means, thanks".

Adrian never thought much of the girls at college. They were normally too busy throwing themselves at him. But this girl was different.

"I'm sorry, where are my manners, I'm Adrian".

Lauren gave him a bright smile, "I'm Lauren" A pause followed after which she held out her hand for him to shake.

"Nice to meet you Adrian."

Adrian shook her hand.

"It's nice to meet you Lauren."

After proper introduction, Lauren returned to her book reading highlighted passages. She would sneak glances over to Adrian when she didn't think he was looking. He was so handsome. Her hands grabbed at the thin cotton pajama type pants in frustration. She wanted so much to talk to him.

Adrian noticed Lauren occasionally looking over at him. He instantly liked her, simply because she wasn't outrageously flirting with him. 'Oh god, throw the girl a bone!', he thought to himself.

"So...how are you feeling about the exam? I hope I haven't interrupted your study too much."

Finally looking him straight in the face, Lauren flashed a girlish smile. Her right hand brushed a few stray strands of auburn hair back behind her ear.

"I'm a little nervous....but I always am. I don't handle test anxiety well. But I've studied really hard so I'm hoping for the best."

Adrian didn't know what made him say this, but it felt right.

"Hey, I don't this very often, but would you maybe want to go to dinner with me after the exam tomorrow? As a thank you for helping me out."

Butterflies filled Lauren's stomach as she squirmed in her seat. She visibly shifted her body weight.

"You wouldn't have to do that......but I would love to."

[the_economist]

"I do have to, and I do want to as well", smiling at her.
