Blind Date with a twist

Will sighed heavily, there is no way he should be here, single for a couple of months and all of a sudden all of your taken friends decide you should go on a blind date. He protested every time the idea was suggested, it tended to be the subject of conversation whenever Will was the 3rd wheel, or 5th, or 7th wheel or 27th wheel for that matter. He got out the car, and threw the keys to the valet, he always thought that looked cool in the films, but it doesn't look so cool when he threw them too hard and smacked the valet in the face. He walked over to apologise and strolled into the restaurant with his head hanging low. On walking in he didn't have any time to react, the waiter was in his face straight away.

“Reservation?!” Will moved back quickly, the waiter was so close his little posh moustache tickled Will's chin.

“It's under Reading” The waiter stepped back and walked to his little book, he looked directly down his nose, tracing his finger slowly until he stopped and looked up.

“Your early.” It was such an abrupt way of saying it, he smiled at Will but it wasn't a smile that made him feel like this waiter had a soul.

“I know, I didn't realise there was anything wrong with being early to be honest with you. Don't worry I'll go wait in the bar, There's someone else coming later so if you wouldn't mind pointing them in my direction I would appreciate that”. Will didn't wait for a reply, he walked off, aiming for the one bar stool not directly next to a happy kissing couple. He spun round on the stool and ordered a whisky, he didn't want to look back at that door, for one he didn't want to be that weird guy starting at every single female that walks through that door, and the other reason was cause of that snooty waiter.

He maintained his constant stare into the brown coloured abyss in his tumbler in front of him, the ice cubes were starting to crack. God how sad was it that he was analysing the rate the ice cube was cracking. He looked at his watch and sighed.

"well at least this way I won't know who stood me up"

Will looked up about to finish his drink when he caught the stare of a barmaid at the end of the bar. She started walking towards him and smiling to herself.

Annabelle Morris was 30 Years old and worked in the bar of the resturant for many years. She enjoyed her job and the patrons were very nice, and tipped very well. This night as she was clearing a table she watched a very nice looking young man pull up. and toss the keys to the valet, proceded to smack him in the face with the keys. She stiffed a laugh and went back to work.

She finished her shift and was about to head home for the night when she saw the young man still sitting there nursing his wiskey. She looked at her watch and figured that he had been sitting there almost hour. She was still wearing her uniform. A white blouse, black knee lenght skirt, black stockings, and black Mary Jane Pumps with a 2" heel. She had long red hair in a french braid that reached to the top of her ass. She was 5' 5" 110 lbs. 34B

She looked at him and said, "Hi... This seat taken?"

Will looked down after he saw the barmaid wander off, a man can dream. He smiled at his slightly poetic crap that just popped into his head. The last of the whisky was swirling around in the glass, the ice had pretty much melted.

"Great watered down whisky, a great finish to a night"

Will threw back the rest of the whisky, made a little grimace and then turned on his stool about to leave before he saw the barmaid.

"Hi... This seat taken?"

"Erm...erm....no i guess it isn't, but i'm assuming you knew that answer anyways seeing as all my drinks have been on their own tonight. "

He smiled up at the barmaid, she was stunning, he thought this might have been a little prank on behalf of all the lovely staff in the restaurant but he was happy to take a chance.

The barmaid slid onto the seat and crossed one leg over the other.

Annabelle sat on the seat, crossed her legs and ordered a Coke. "I'm Annabelle... What's your name?"

"Well its very nice to meet you Annabelle, I just wish it could have been under better circumstances"

Will ordered another whisky.

"So what brings you to this end of the bar then?"

She thought for a moment. She tried to think of away to say what she wanted to say without sounding like she felt sorry for him. "Well, I'm done with my shift for tonight," she said as the bartender, brought her her Coke, "and I wanted a drink before heading home. And you looked like you need some cheering up."

"Well aren't you nice, and yer you seem to be spot on with the whole cheering up, how could you ever tell?"

He smiled at her and finished the whisky before ordering another.

"And your sure you weren't pushed over here by that waiter"

Will nodded in the direction of the annoying waiter he met when he came into the restaurant

"Yeah, I wasn't pushed over here by Steve. He's a real pain in the butt," She took a drink of her Coke, "You know, you don't seem to be too upset about being stood up."

"Ah, so it seems my reason on being alone is fairly obvious, I guess I would be more down if I had actually met the girl before, my wonderful friends set me up on a blind date with some random girl, but the funny thing about this random girl is that she is invisible"

Will smiled and turned towards Annabelle

"And also she doesn't exist"

Annabelle looked at him a little confused, "So, your friends set you up on a blind date with a woman who doesn't exist?"

"I hope that wouldn't be that evil, but I think I prefer that option to the idea she walked in, saw me and left sharpish"

Will laughed to himself, he was normally so confident in himself, he hoped that she didn't exist

"Well, if she did see you and leave, she is the dumbest woman in the world," she said as she took a drink of her Coke, "So, you never did tell me your name."

"Oh sorry, it's Will, and aren't you a sweetheart, well at least I know i've got a better girl by being stood up"

Will turned around and ordered a coke, he didn't need his liquid counsellor anymore

Annabelle smiled at his comment about being a better girl then the one who stood him up, "So what do you do for a living, Will?"

He noticed his comment had made a good impression on her.

"I'm a psychiatrist, I'm assuming seeing as you were behind the bar, you work here, or just on REALLY good terms with the owner?"

Annabelle was impressed that he was a psychiatrist and she smiled at his comment about working in the resturant or are on good terms with the owner, "It's a little of both. My parents own the place and I work here in the bar. And that waiter at the door, is my younger brother"

Will felt a surge of blood flowing through his cheeks.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't....I mean I shouldn't.....He is actually really nice.....erm......oh crap, I've ruined my chances here haven't I?"

Will looked down, why is he always so opinionated, his mouth always gets him in trouble.

Annabelle laughed, "No... You haven't runined your chances... He can be a bit of a jerk at times. It's a good thing that I'm going to inhert this place one day. I couldn't stand working here if he was my boss..." Annabelle looked at the resturant and could see it was very busy that night, "You know, it's getting kind of crowed in here... I don't usually do this, but, would you like to go back to my place? I live very close by..."

Will looked around, he could feel the back of someone against his and felt inclined to agree.

"Just give me two seconds"

Will grabbed a whisky he had kept to the side and poured it down his throat, he stood up and placed his hand gently on her shoulder.

"Sounds like a plan, forgive me for that, needed a bit of courage."

He winked at her and offered his hand

Annabelle smiled as she took his hand. She led him outside and down to the next door. They went up a short flight of stairs to an elevator. Then they went up to the fifth floor, and down a short coridor to Her apartment, where they were greeted by her gray and black striped cat Furball.

"Jesus, I think I'll need a map to get back to the street once you kick me out"

Will crouched down, and started to stroke the cat

"You do realise I'm using all my strength not to make a pussy joke"

Will stood up, he looked at Annabelle in the eyes for a while, not one of them moved, he felt such a surge going through him. Everything in his body was telling him to kiss her

Annabelle rolled her eyes as he talked about pussy jokes. Then, he stood up and they looked at each other, she could feel something between them, "Um... well would you like some thing to eat? I was planning on making chicken."

He saw the reaction and made a mental note to be more mature.

"Dinner sounds good, as long as you don't mind, I can pop down and get some wine if you would like?"

Annabelle smiled, "Sure go ahead..." She went in the kitchen and started to make dinner. Which consised of grilled chicken breasts, oven roasted potatoes, and a salad.

Will ran downstairs, he found the nearest shop just 5 minutes down the road, bought a bottle of wine for the two of them and went back, although it took him a while to find her place again

He knocked twice on the door making Annabelle jump
