Instant Replay In Baseball?
There have been a lot of controversial calls made throughout the years, and specifically this postseason. What are your opinions on MLB using more replays in baseball to make sure they get the calls right?
I'm of the opinion that they just need to get better umpires. Phil Cuzzi is an example of a terrible, terrible umpire. He shouldn't have his job. But I'm open to the idea of having managers get two red flags that they can throw on the field to make the umpires check replay. Not on balls and strikes of course, but on fair/foul calls and close calls on the bases. What do you think?

The catcher is standing at third base. He tags out the runner going to third, then the runner he chased back up the third base line. Neither runner is standing on base.
The ump calls only one of the runners out.
I don't watch much baseball, but the 90 minutes I did see included three horrible calls.

Yeah, tonight was pretty damn awful. This entire postseason has been a campaign for them to implement some kind of replay system.

I would advocate a system similar to the one used by the NFL, but to be used in the postseason only. MLB would allow managers to use 'challenges', and if a call is upheld, then that team would lose an out.

Instant Replay would definiely eliminate most of the bad calls. On the down side, it would make a slow game even slower.

But is that out given to the pitcher? Aka would that lower their ERA?

Yes. Assuming its used judiciously, its impact on a pitcher's ERA and WHIP would be negligible at best

Fair enough. Would you use replay in Tiebreaker games?

Tiebreaker games?
BTW, tell Quentin to get off his ass and heal up. He was a keeper for me this year and was completely useless.

Yes. In 2007 it was the Rockies and the Padres. In 2008 it was the White Sox and the Twins. And this year it was the Tigers and the Twins. Those games are just as important as any playoff game, even though they count as regular season stats. And hell, you could argue that any game down the stretch in a pennant race is important.

It's just baseball. It's not like it's important like golf or football.

Ah, season tiebreakers. Yes, I'd extent it to those as they essentially one-game playoffs.
