I'm in the market for a zester
I've never actually zested anything, but I've been home watching cooking shows all day, and they all have zesters. I'd hate to need to zest something and not have a zester, and I do love a good lemon zest.
So, I'm searching the innernets for a zester - it's too cold and rainy to go out to the mall (or to work) in person to find one.
I like the medieval looking ones better than the grater looking ones.

I have one of those and use them, they work well.
I've also seen people use microplanes.
But I prefer the one you show. It makes loooooooong strips of zest if you want, which can be really pretty.

I certainly don't want short zests.
I have an oxo potato(e) peeler, but never use it because I actually like boxed mashed potato(e) flakes better than real potato(e)s

You know the old saying "It's better to have something and not need it than need something and not have it"? In the kitchen it's the reverse. If you've never felt the need to zest anything before you saw it on TV, odds are if you buy the thing it you'll use it a few times, then it'll dwell forever under your sink.

A hand held cheese grater works for me. Unless you want zests for decorative purposes, and then just use a sharp knife with skill and patience...

Never use a masher anyway. Use a food mill.

I should note, that I absolutely love capers.
With a zester I could make some fantastic Chicken Picatta.
I spent a few weeks in Sicily this Summer and saw capers growing wild.

You have no idea how badly I want to do a parody thread but can't think of anything good that rhymes with zester.

Killswitch did a parody of my last thread.
It's eerie how you two have this ESP/Sexual tension thing going on.
