Robotech: Lighting the Darkness (OOC/casting call)

Okay, I don't know how many people have seen any of the Robotech series (which is actually three unrelated series made by a single production company lumped together to satisfy American airtime requirements), but at the end of the series, the Invid, a race of insectlike aliens that had all but enslaved humanity, assumed a human form, then took off into space. They did so because two of the young princesses of the Invid pleaded humanity's case. The clincher in the argument was the revelation that an expeditionary fleet launched decades earlier had returned with weapons that the Regess, the Invid ruler, recognized as used by their ancient enemy, the Children of the Shadow. Through the subsequent events, it is revealed that the race that helped build these new weapons intend the absolute destruction of any species that has so much as seen the power of the Flower of Life. The Haydonites, a race of Cybernetic life forms, had given humanity flawed designs, hoping they would destroy themselves, but knowing they could exploit those designs. Unfortunately, they have been betrayed by the Hybrid Android they created to act as a liaison. She herself feels betrayed, and sides with the humans, along with one of the Invid princesses, Ariel, who has joined her love, a Robotech Force Pilot commander, aboard the last hope humanity has, an old ship made without Shadow Technology, known as The Archangel. Together with a crew made up of humans and half-Zentraedi, fly out into the unknown, hoping to find the lost Robotech Expeditionary Force vessel SDF-3 and its commander, Admiral Rick Hunter.

The Haydonites continue to follow them, and both sides wish to reach the SDF-3 and its Protoculture Matrix before the other. But there are others out there. Unbeknownst to them, an unusual ship lies in their path. An old ship, launched before the start of the first Robotech war, drifts in space on automatic pilot. Its crew is in hibernation, awaiting the day when the rest of humanity can join them in space.


So the basic idea is that the Archangel's crew stumbles upon this ship while trying to find the Pioneer, Rick Hunter's ship. It turns out that it's actually the second version of the ship, built using the technologies of several alien races, and it may hold the key to halting the spread of the Haydonites. We'll need a handful of people to play crewmembers and pilots, someone to play Ariel, and someone to play the Hybrid Android, JANICE. Might need some new aliens too. What do you guys think?

Macross Plus is not part of the Robotech series but a continuation of Super Dimension Fortress Macross in Japan, as Dragonrazor mentioned Robotech was made up of three different shows that had no connection (at least plot wise, they were produced by the same animation studio and Southren Cross has some conceptual links to Macross).


I'd be tempted to play as Maya Sterling (I love the Sterlings and would play as Dana if she fit), but the times I've played with Dragon before it hasn't gone too well.

Thanks. You'd think more people would notice the link to Robotech's official site. And...I have no idea how to respond to the rest at the moment. on the one hand it's thanks for the interest, on the other it's "I don't remember being in any threads together before, but that may just be my ridiculously poor memory"

both. I want to concentrate on the canon before they get to any noncanon, other than pilots and crew that aren't mentioned

hmmm....a total bust then, considering posting an ORP version met with nothing at all
