This place has gone so meta
Suddenly, this place is full of threads about what we talk about and how we talk about it in this place.
So here's a thread about that.
A thread for people who want to talk about threads where people are talking about what people in other threads are talking about.
Anyone cross-eyed yet?

Yes.
Is it better than the political threads?
I'm having fun in any case. Not getting much done, but it's entertaining.

Excerpt from Stolen Magic-Part 6
A hand closed around her breast, more hands gripped to her legs. Covered in mud, in Slater’s blood, her father’s words came to her again. A dagger sheathed in the belt of one of the men came into view, and as she had all those years ago she reacted without thought and grabbed it. Swinging out blindly the blade hit flesh and she pressed down hard. Hot blood spilled over her hand. The grasping hands released her.

Actually this was pretty funny.

It's the AH equivalent of GB's posting about each other;

I suggest a writing contest based on some element of an AH thread within the last week. I've just submitted one to the Halloween contest inspired by a cougar thread running somewhere around here.

How long as the "cougar" identification been around anyway? First I knew was from the TV series.
I sometimes dip in the online sex terms dictionaries looking for terms to build a story around. This one seemed a good match for a Halloween story.

That one, I'm afraid, is beyond me. Had no idea of the term when I was being trained by them way back when *laugh* The area I'm from is weird and always about a decade behind the latest lingo.

Wellllll . . . guess I should try to figure out the male equivalent, if we're taking about training by them. My problem was that I was so narcisistic that I didn't even see them coming and have any idea what they wanted until it was all over.

I had no trouble figuring out what Sandra and the string thereafter wanted ( at least once I ended up at her house ) That was the good thing. No problem giving directions. I got my Doctorate in getting a woman off that year and a half or so *laugh*
Last I knew, Cougar was the only one, but there are apparently several new divisions, with Puma now assigned to the lower range age of what used to be Cougar.
Only male version I've ever heard of is Silverback, but as I said, I'm always behind the times.

Ah, good, thanks. Gotta look that up and see how it fits in the story. Of course, I've already written the story time and time again--I just haven't used that term. Looks like a good story title.

I've heard that one used racially, though. Not always, but I have seen that one given negative racial connotations.
ETA: Silver Fox. That one doesn't seem to have any negative/racial connotations I can find ( other than the same sort applied to cougar )

"Cougar" as a term has been around for a quite a while. Like, basically started at the end of the millennium and picking up steam with the plateauing of hipster-driven marketing during the mid-aughts. If you're basing it off that TV show, it's already jumped the shark.

I'm not, as I haven't seen the show. Thanks for the background.

'Cougar' and 'Milf' are as played out as DVDs, CDs, and brushing your teeth.

Cougars, Milfs, Silverbacks?
What about Wrinkly Hippopotami like me?
Do we miss out?
