Sunglasses?

Now my eyes are extremely light sensitive. We're talking the lighting in a normal hallway is too bright for me to bear for long periods of time. Because of this I have played with sunglasses for too many years.

I have a drawer filled with high end sunglasses. We're talking glasses like Bolle, Gargoyle, Ferrari, Oakley etc. I figure that drawer holds well over a grand worth of sunglasses. None of them worked well for me for one reason or another.

Now I wear a design supposedly created by NASA for the astronauts. These things may look a bit strange with their amber lenses but they work incredbly well. I have worn them on the beach and on the dive boats in bright sunlight without problems. The best thing is I can even wear them at night to cut down the glare. The best part is they were reasonably priced.

So what do you wear for sunglasses? WHy?

too many years working outside in the bright sun ended up giving me a cataract. The new HD lens they put in was touted as improving overall vision and increasing night vision as well. The downside they didn't tell me until later was that I would now also be hyper-sensitive to sunlight, which gives me the equivilent of migrane headaches if I don't wear them. Now I wear high-end shades that are designed for UVA and UVB rays. At least I look cool in them, lol

Got a link?

I wear old, very dark, round, tortoise shell earpiece Panama Jack. Probably cost me $5 more than ten years ago. Another couple of years and they'll be back in style.

Some friends recently had reflective blue lenses that seemed good for fishing or something.

ETA: Missed the why - not in the sun for extended times that often. Eyeglasses and the clip-ons have sufficed for golf, driving, etc. I use the PJ mostly at the beach or when wearing contacts other times.

Thanks.

ETA: Pretty reasonable. I thought they would be far more expensive.

I too developed cataracts at a very early age and had to have them removed. The only cause they could figure out was excessive UV exposure which is odd since I always wore sunglasses, albeit cheap ones. Now I've upgraded to slightly more expensive ones which block UVA and UVB rays.

Lance, I have those same lenses and haven't noticed any excessive sensitivity to sunlight with mine, and I'm prone to migraines. I always wear sunglasses, though.

Don't go outside on a bright sunny day without them, it'll hurt like a bastard. I asked my eye surgeon why the sunlight bothered me so badly and that was what he told me the down side was. Gee thanks doc.

It's bright, but not all that uncomfortable. Of course, I have a high pain tolerance.

I rarely need sunglasses, but when I do, I wear a pair of first Gulf War ex-military surplus.

They're tough, effective and cost me one pound for three pairs.

I own three pair right now. They are all in the same style.

I bought the first two to replace a pair that broke. I couldn't decide which I liked better, soI bought them both and swapped out back and forth until one of them took the main position in my car. the other is in the glove compartment as a backup (scratched to hell now).

The third pair I bought because I forgot the other two at home when I started driving down to Atlantic City (three hour drive). I was 30 minutes into the trip when the sun came out, so when I stopped for gas I bought a cheap pair of the same style, and they are more comfortable than the two more expensive pairs that I don't wear anymore

I wish I could find something like that.
Otherwise it's back to the Polaroids. . . . .

I wear glasses so I wear the oversized all poly ones that fit over glasses, or else clip on's - I do favor the amber Blue blocking lenses exclusively, since they mostly just cut down the glare but don't interfere as much with actual light transmission.

I have to wear sunglasses because I am sensitive to bright light (gives me migraines) and because I am on a drug longterm that will accelerate cataract formation. I have about 5 pairs in different shapes (I have the chicks need to match frame styles). I way prefer polaroid lenses. I can't deal with blue blockers. The yellow/orange tint sets off the headaches. (I have a weird thing going on with the colour yellow. It alone will give me headaches. Can't have yellow things in my environment.)

I have this bad habit of walking with my head down because I don't wear sunglasses. The problem is I have to invest in a pair that is more than moderately priced and I always end up losing them within a month.
