My blu-ray dilemma.

The prices for big screen HDTV's have dropped so much I'm going to buy one in the near future. With that I will probably buy a blu ray player as well.

The question on my mind: Do I buy a regular blu ray player or buy a PS3 that plays blu ray discs and games?

I don't like the playstation brand and they only have a grand total of two games for it I want to play. That said if you are going to get a bluray player gat a PS3. Its most likely the cheapest bluray player you will find and you might find a game or two to play on it plus it has other functions such as being a jukebox for parties and does some other cool stuff too.

There might be 3 games that I might want to play. Have you used it? I imagine it would take a bit more to operate and have a clunkier remote than a stand alone blu-ray player.

You're not getting a new PS3 for less than 300. You can get a decent blu ray for half that.

Could always check the pawn shops for PS3s.

If I wanted to buy a neighbor's PS3 I would just buy it from them.

And that's part of what I'm deciding. The upside is that the PS3 plays games.

You could use the controller for the remote if you want or you could shell out some cash and get a real remote for it. It looks like this.

I personally have not used the PS3 but I have not heard any complaints from a movie experience stand point as it has full HDMI hookups and can do surroundsound if thats your thing. If you dont want to pay full price go to a gamestop and get a quote on a used one. Should be about 50 bucks cheaper and they could answer any question about it you can't get answered here.

I already have an XBox, so I just bought a blu-ray player. If you don't have a gaming system, you should get a PS3.
