Is a Racial Fetish Racist?

Some dust was kicked up in another thread because someone said he wasn't attracted to Black women. He was called out for his perceived racism. But is the opposite true? What if you just have a burning need that only one racial group can satisfy? Is that just as bad? Worse? Just kinky? Juvenile?

I'd say a racial fetish is just a fetish, if there is such a thing as "Just A Fetish".

If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, is it racist to say I prefer women?

Some logical inferences:

If not being attracted to a particular race is racist, then being attracted to just one race is the same as not being attracted to all of the other races, so it's even more racist.

However, if not being attracted to a particular race is racist, then not being attracted to a particular sex is sexist; not being attracted to people of a particular age is age discrimination; not being attracted to people who are morons is insensitive to the handicapped.

To me, it's the height of arrogance to tell someone else whom they should or shouldn't be attracted to. That's the ultimate personal preference. Nobody likes it when people tell gays they shouldn't be attracted to the same sex, so it seems like other preferences should get equal deference.

The scenario he painted depended more on the implicit accusation that one's partner had a secret preference for something other than one's partner. That to me was the real issue, and it had nothing to do with race or fetish or anything else. If someone who had an identical twin found their wife had a bunch of sex videos of their twin, that would probably be an issue, but would have nothing to do with race.

I'll stand by my position that people are entitled to be attracted to whomever they feel attracted to. They no obligation to run an affirmative action program, be equal opportunity, etc. And there's no need for anybody to label those preferences as "racist", "sexist", "ageist", etc., in a pejorative sense. If the preferences are legal, they are valid.
