Culture Shock 101

Being plucked out of a life in Manhattan after 17 years and being dropped off in a dairy farm out here in the woods is a experience.

Anyone who tells you that the air is better outside the city has never smelled cow manure.

What? Get up at 4am, go to the barn and fuck the cattle . . . See, it's just like life in Manhattan, only cheaper.

IX. The Courtyard

It was the city I had known before;
The ancient, leprous town where mongrel throngs
Chant to strange gods, and beat unhallowed gongs
In crypts beneath foul alleys near the shore.
The rotting, fish-eyed houses leered at me
From where they leaned, drunk and half-animate,
As edging through the filth I passed the gate
To the black courtyard where the man would be.

The dark walls closed me in, and loud I cursed
That ever I had come to such a den,
When suddenly a score of windows burst
Into wild light, and swarmed with dancing men:
Mad, soundless revels of the dragging dead -
And not a corpse had either hands or head!

Cow manure is a lovely, delicious aroma....

.... when you compare it to sheep shit on a foggy night.

(Some Montana wisdom here).

Think of all those tits you'll be passing up if you don't milk.

Cow chips are great for starting campfires.

Shag don't worry you'll survive. I spent 30 years of living in NYC and 10 years in Miami SoBe. A little over a year and a half ago I tranferred to Texas. I've adjusted to living out here with the beef cattle and wide open land that seems to go on forever. After a while the sounds of those cows become as familiar as the sound of the yellow cabs honkin, the bus tires screeching and the subway trains rolling down the tract. Of course there's no corner bodega to buy ice cream at 3:00am in the morning and they roll up the sidewalk at 9 pm but it's a much better quality of life. Of course instead of getting hit by a cabby as you cross the street you have to worry about your neighbors bull getting out and chasing your ass across fields as all the neighbors sit backs and laugh their asses off at you make tcomments about 'city slickers' and shit. Oh FYI watch those bulls they're dumb SOB's but they can jump quover 4 feet fences and some are meaner then hell so watch your ass or it becomes the bulls target....
