At least he had fun

Early this spring one of my neighbors picked up a new bike. Harley Davidson Cross Bones.

He washed it and polished it on a near daily basis.

Every time he saw me he just shook his head while giving me shit.

Every few days he walked out to his bike in his nice black leathers, fired up the bike and revved it in the parking area for a bit before heading out. He would sit in the parking area later on in the night when he returned home revving the engine before shutting it down. The sound of his bike rattled the walls.

This afternoon he walked out to start washing his bike when he saw me working on mine. He strolled over and we talked for a bit. Oh he talked up his bike and gave me shit for riding an older bike that looked like what it was. Well ridden. I strolled over and gave his bike the once over, something I hadn't done before.

When I saw his Odometer I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had to look a second time.

Now I didn't ride anywhere near as much as I wanted to this summer. For one thing it was too blasted hot and for another the bike was acting up a bit. Even so I put another 800 miles on the bike. According to his Odometer for all those evening he woke the neighborhood he had put a grand total of 250 miles on his bike.

In other words for all of his big talk and gear he had ridden a bit more than a quarter of the miles I had ridden this summer.

Oh well, at least he had fun with his bike.

LOL. Talk and no action. Sounds like you're having a lot more fun

My Other Stories

Excerpt from Stolen Magic-Part 6

A hand closed around her breast, more hands gripped to her legs. Covered in mud, in Slater’s blood, her father’s words came to her again. A dagger sheathed in the belt of one of the men came into view, and as she had all those years ago she reacted without thought and grabbed it. Swinging out blindly the blade hit flesh and she pressed down hard. Hot blood spilled over her hand. The grasping hands released her.

Mr. Vanilla Straight Guy--Safe_Bet

Don’t know if I ever told you, but you were the first person I “met” on Lit. You invited me into Molly’s thread and made me feel at home. I really appreciated that. You also prolly know more about the “doings” of our family than just about anybody else on Lit. That’s cuz you care and are appreciated for being you.--posthumous message from Safe_Bet. And I still care and I still love her. Rest in the Light, Suzy.
