The same people who are in terror of health reform are paranoid about gun legislation. Obama has repeatedly said he has no interest in more gun legislation. It was a big vote killer for the Dems under Clinton and the Pres is unlikely to make the same mistake. There is even a majority in his party in the Congress that is completely opposed to the idea. But, you can't cure deliberate ignorance with mere fact. l

Mr. Vanilla Straight Guy--Safe_Bet
Don’t know if I ever told you, but you were the first person I “met” on Lit. You invited me into Molly’s thread and made me feel at home. I really appreciated that. You also prolly know more about the “doings” of our family than just about anybody else on Lit. That’s cuz you care and are appreciated for being you.--posthumous message from Safe_Bet. And I still care and I still love her. Rest in the Light, Suzy.

Memo: Remington Arms to National Rifle Association
We are very sorry to inform you, that due to poor sales in our hand gun ammunition division, we will be unable to make our customary donation this year.
Memo: NRA to Remington Arms
Don't worry help is on the way. Put on an extra shift. We expect ammunition sales to exceed all records by election day.

People panicking and stockpiling anything does tend to cause shortages. Remember a couple years back when there was a rice shortage and CostCo had to limit customers to 2 bags? It wasn't caused by a flood or any real event, but merely by raw panic.

This reminds me of every time there's a hurricane headed our way. Stocks of plywood, tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, bread and milk disappear within hours.
