Only 8750 years left

Yesterday was the 250 anniversary of the Guinnes brewery. And at 5:59 PM Greenwich Mean Time, lovers of beer-you-can-chew worldwide raised their pints of opaque beverage in a toast.

So did I, at my local "irish" joint. And I learned this little tidbit, as here quoted form CNN for your convenience:

In 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on a brewery.

Yep. That's nine thousand years. Way to plan ahead.

Cheers.

Only 725 years? Pikers! Try this one out and consider the party that will be thrown in another 31 years.

Don’t know if I ever told you, but you were the first person I “met” on Lit. You invited me into Molly’s thread and made me feel at home. I really appreciated that. You also prolly know more about the “doings” of our family than just about anybody else on Lit. That’s cuz you care and are appreciated for being you.--posthumous message from Safe_Bet. And I still care and I still love her. Rest in the Light, Suzy.

In Britain, West Indian people drink it -- presumably because it's black like them.

Beer makes me feel sluggish -- I prefer a pint of Kingston Black cider drawn from the barrel for a rusticly horny high
