It's going to be a long hard road, but that whole theocracy nightmare will eventually end there, and Iran will once again stand side by side with the United States, to bring some sanity to the region. The theocratic horror makes no sense to people my age in Iran. It's about as stale as the Cuban Revolution is to people my age in Havana.

Let's just hope this country never goes down that Theocratic route. Let's do our best to stamp out fundamentalism here in America. That's the best we can do for the Iranians, be examples.

I highly doubt that you are referring to secular worship of the social state or worship of mother nature...

No silly. Stop being such a fag and listen. Religion is good. But an over extended religious community is bad. Just as an over extended grip of secular government is bad.

So, we're in danger of being over-run by the Fundies?

Only if you have shit to hide and are ashamed of and if every Government official is blackmailed by Fundies. It's happened. It will happen again. Fundies are crazy, they lust for power above all. They will suck you dry, if you let them. They must be stomped to the ground.

Just like this guy...

Your analogy doesn't fly my friend. First off, there aren't that many atheist in Congress.(meaning that they are all men of faith) Secondly, they all have constituents they have to answer to. They are also the people's representative, elected by the people and for the people. If the people choose, they'll put a freaking fundamentalist in office. Giving the fact that most in congress are weasels and they crack at the first sign of votes being drain, they will most likely vote the way their people tell them to vote. I'm not saying that people always get their way when it comes to influencing their congressman, but in matters of morality, they usually do. If enough Fundies get together and say that Erotic Literature was absolute PORN and has no place on the internet where OUR children roam, don't you think some weasel congressman will say "Absolutely!". Luckily, we're not there yet. But the point is that once Fundies get their grip into Government, they can't let go. They'll continue to try to influence Government in all aspects of morality. The big companies like Oil, Pharma, Energy and so on, won't care about this stuff because it won't affect them, profit-wise. Fundamentalism needs to be checked from time to time because it can get out of hand. They are a real threat and if you do not see it, then you are blind to this reality. Most fundamentalist lack the ability to distinguish reality. They truly believe that the world is going to come to an abrupt end and doing anything to fix it is just a waste of time. They infect our youth with this garbage under the guise of Christianity. Frankly, they know less about Christ than and Atheist does.

We have atheists by default in Congress especially on the Democrat side for they abandon principle and moral while suspending judgement in order to maintain consensus with doublethink positions such as "personally, I abhor abortion, but I condone it for others in order to NOT be THAT kind of Christian my fellows seem to hate."

As Rand says, yes Virginia, there is a black and white, and the quickest way to get to black is to live in the grey [paraphrase, of course].

There are not enough "Fundies" to justify your panicked postulative posting...

Is that what you think, that they are not moral? Really. So who judges morality? Do the fundamentalist judge morality? So you want more of them? Do you know that a family has a right to kill their daughter in some of the Islamic countries if they find that she was out with a boy? These are fundamentalist that follow their religion to the letter of the law. Did you know that during the times of Jesus, a woman found to be an adulteress could be stoned to death? These were also fundamentalist. Jesus hated fundamentalist. They ultimately had him killed because he threaten their fundamental way of life. The Roman Authority was just tool by which to expedite the false trial and murder of this innocent man. Since his death, more fundamentalism has arisen. I equate fundamentalist to religious fanatics and the zealots in the times of Jesus. You want more fundamentalism? You want people blowing themselves up for the belief in a wrathful God? Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.
