Post-apocalyptic fun (OOC)
Edit:attention, this thread is no longer looking for male players, there may be more positions in the future, but for now we are strictly in need of some more female characters
Evening all, just got back from my time amongst the computerless peasants and boy am I ready for a new thread, specifically one involving a radioactive wasteland, littered with mutants, zombies and the odd angel or demon (that’s right, angels and demons, it was the actual apocalypse people)
So feel free to jump in and say hi or reserve a place, im still in the brainstorming phase though, so you can join in on that as well

Name: Merrik Klane
Age: Unknown
Race: Angel
The people who are left don't know which side "won" for sure and Merrik isn't willing to talk about it either. Either his side lost or he wasn't allowed back. He now spends most of his time drinking in a small settle that formed after the apocalypse. Though he's in a bad state an angel is still a formidable presence and he has risen up to protect the place when needed in exchange for all that he drinks. To the knowledge of anyone in the town he still hasn't had sex with anyone.
He stands 5'10 with a frightening presence though that wears off once you get to know him. He has piercing blue eyes and ragged platinum hair that just reaches his neck in the back. He sold his armor for money long ago and now rarely wears a shirt. However he has not parted with the angelic blade he was armed with for the apocalypse.

By the way this was just the first idea that struck me when I saw this. I had to put it up even if I don't get to use it.

Sound interesting, but how close is this to Fallout, this is somewhat off Fallout right?

*bops you on the head with a stick*
as a general bit of advice, never post a profile in one of my threads until i ask for them, its kinda annoying, no offense or anything, its just a few of the things in there wont fit in with the thread that i haven't mentioned yet, and then when i post them and tell you no i feel a bit like a jerk
also, i like a uniform profile structure, but that's just me being picky

its going to have a few fallout elements, like vaults, but i want to keep it mostly generic so it appeals to a wider audience

Free loaders huh? Well what else would you have us do, make you a cake and eat it too?
How about some brainstorming of this: "littered with mutants, zombies and the odd angel or demon (that’s right, angels and demons, it was the actual apocalypse people)"
Since you're going with the "actual apocalypse" as in the Biblical "end times" kind of theme I think using that list would be great, but you have to add a human element or else the general public will be disinterested. Besides, do zombies even have sex?
Angels & Demons sound awesome. But that kind of counters any human side, since Angels and Demons can just waste n00b zombies all day long with barely breaking a sweat. So maybe if people make angels or demons, they have to be in human form with certain human limitations?
Otherwise, I'm still waiting for any of the vaguest hints concerning the plot, and how the hell anyone would be left once it is in the process of being destroyed.

well i dont know about eating it, but ive never been a fan of the digestion process...
and the apocalypse was quite a bad affair, so bad in fact that both the devil and god decided that it got away from them and stopped before everything died, then left the world completely. That means that angels and demons, while still better than humans, lost a big chunk of their power when their patrons left, leaving them just as vulnerable to bullets to the face as everyone else.
also, religion doesn't work the same way, the survivors blame god just as much as the devil for the apocalypse, so if any of their old servants are found, a lynch mob tends to form, a lynch mob with automatic weapons... yeah, angels and demons don't show off much

aaaaaand some thread stuff, suggest others if you want them and i'll write them up
Tribal: tribal settlements tend to be rather wary of technology and quite superstitious, however they tend to be good physical specimens, giving them a decent resistance to most effects of the wastelands, also, they tend to be exceptional melee combatants.
Agricultural: small farms basically, they tend to be set up in relatively safe areas that have nothing of worth to anyone, most go under quite quick if the soil is too irradiated, or if some raiders have a camp nearby, but the one that succeed tend to do so nicely, the profits that come from their produce giving them quite nice lives (and safe, if they’re smart enough to hire guards)

I thought maybe like 4 dimensions or something... Wouldn't it suck if a whole bunch of gay dudes stole your thread? That would suck, and throw off the ratio. lol

th... throw off my ratio?! they wouldn't! *curls up in the fetal position*
and two more settlement types
Underground: wherever the thread takes place (personally I wouldn’t mind leaving the location an unknown, but if you guys want busted up landmarks) has an unusually high number of underground areas, railways, bomb shelters, hastily constructed military bunkers, ect ect. The people who chose to live in such places are rarely self sufficient, a small hydroponics set ups tending to be the extent of their food production capabilities, so they often make good relations with nearby settlements in order to get the essentials they need to survive. Also, underground settlements have to deal with the other things that chose to live in the dark.
Vault: vaults, designed to be the ultimate fallout shelters, not only will they survive the initial bombings, they can stay closed indefinitely, strict population control combined with many systems designed to make them self sufficient make them little enclosed paradises compared to the outside world. However, they are too few and far between to even make a dent in the overall population, so the locations of them are secret, and their doors are quite firmly shut.

Nevar! Not in a lit thread!
But really those ideas all sound pretty good!
I'd suggest one more settlement type.
Roving Town's: Mostly raiders and the like, but occasionally a group of well intentioned people trying to gather stragglers etc. They'd have to have fixed bases of supplies set up across the country and be making their way from one to the other. Kind of like the convoy's in Resident Evil, but maybe a few more mobile homes and stuff. Maybe some helicopters like that corny "Red Dragon" flick or whatever.
And i'm totally cool with no familiar landmarks, I always end up forgetting them anyways.

two more
Convoy: a mobile town, not usually that large due to limited vehicles and scarce petrol supplies (though this is a bit in to the future in terms of technology, so fuel efficiency is much better) but the mobility gives them an edge over most threats, and the way they trade as they go along is quite useful to most settlements.
Ruins: setting up in the ruins of old city’s or towns is a mixed bag, on one hand, they make quite nice places to live, and there’s always something to scavenge. But they’re also vulnerable, its easy for things to come out of nowhere, be it some horror coming up from underground or bandits and raiders blowing in on the wind.

good question, if only i had some stuff already written for than... oh wait, i do (sorta)
Weapons:
Basic: bats, knives, board with a nail in it, I don’t think I need to explain this stuff
Conventional guns: you see ‘em in movies all the time, doesn’t take much explaining here. Guns aren’t that hard to come by, and common ammo types aren’t either (9mm for example) but the more exotic the ammo the harder it is to come by, and the more expensive it is.
Fancy guns (also known as Pew Pew Lazors): they tend to come in two types, laser and plasma, both are rare. Laser weapons are among the most reliable weapons in the wasteland, bit like an AK really, and they tend to be rather energy efficient (if you manage to get a hold of a top of the line military lasgun or pistol with the right power cell, its effectively limitless if you give it time to recharge) plasma weapons on the other hand, eat through ammo very fast, and have a nasty habit of overheating and possibly exploding, but the damage output of them is well worth the risk when you absolutely must kill everything.
Armour:
Verry Basic: leather jacket and a cooking pot on your head, probably wont help against anything other than shrapnel.
Makeshift Stuff: the wasteland had allot of ways to kill you, and quite a few ways to stop that from happening, from jackets with thin metal plates sown in to crude chainmail, all with different degrees of success.
Modern: Flack jackets and the like, hurts like hell, but you’ll live.
More fancy stuff: powered armour, thick plating easily capable of handling small calibre rounds with little effect built around a servo motor exoskeleton with built in power supply, quite big and bulky, incredibly rare.
