Ted Kennedy's Letters to the Pope on 60 mins

Is it just me, or is this really distasteful?

I'm not a religious person, and I happily turned away from Catholicsm many many years ago. But still, seems to me that when a person accepts that his number is up, and starts writing to a spiritual leader of his choice, the letters should remain private.

Who would turn these over to 60 minutes?

Fuck 60 minutes anymore. Too many repeats, Katie Couric, always delayed because of some stupid insufferable sporting event, and did I mention Katie Couric?

Before I complain I would like to know what Teddy Kennedy wanted to be done with those letters. He may have wanted them published.

I have no idea.

Barring a mention in his will - which it would be weird to think to put it there - the only person who can answer that question and be 100% believed, is dead.

Kennedy could have told any number of people he wants the letters published, including a publisher.

"Could have" -- sure.

"Did he" -- we don't know.

Why are you twisting yourself into a knot on this thread? It's ok to have an opinion ya know, without attending the reading of the will. I found the reporting tacky. Maybe you do too, or maybe you don't -- you think you need help in order to have a thought about this? It's just a damn opinion.

You are going to give yourself an ulcer. Lighten up.
