Why are there so many haters here?
Literotica seems to be full of angry people who just want a fight or to dis others. I don't get it. Why be a dick when you can be friendly and make someone smile?

There are plenty of decent people here - just a matter of figuring who's bitching as a 'character' for entertainment value, who really means it, who is hiding behind an alt to say despicable things, and who are simply sleazeballs. Oh, and then you have to watch out for those who preach sweetness and light yet troll other members making nasty, insidious little posts.
Frequently, on a forum like this you'll see people saying things more a throw away comments than any considered opinion. Sometimes it works out to speak to those further to really get to the who they are behind the paper mask.
If someone's going around with nothing more to offer than twisted, arsehole-ish posts, then you have the tools to ignore them rather than get pulled into endless and fruitless cross-posting. The racist threads are a prime example of this. You can argue till you're blue in the face but it has no impact. Report the thread as offensive and move on.

Like what Laurel, the Administrator, said, if you don't like the threads/posts, just ignore them. You have the power of the iggy. Never look down on people or their threads/posts. That is a hateful thing to do. Also never listen to trolls who got nothing to offer except hateful things.

I don't hate Rory and Sean. I don't use the iggy button. I just don't read their threads or posts. I don't waste my time and energy. If people post serious topics, I will respond seriously. There are just too many "witty" posts, I think I'll take a break and do my own thing. Just don't get angry.

I agree. I'm a liberal and rather than pick a nasty fight with someone from the Right I find it best to make a an attempt to answer with satorical answer. Also, it is great to be able to come to Lit and express ourselves for free. |

Because they were banned from, or not allowed on, any other forums.
One time I challenged a few of these haters you speak of, to show what other forums they're allowed to post on. I showed all the places where I am in good standing, and there are several; on the other hand, no one else could do so.
So what I'd like to ask you is, would you rather have these haters here... or would you prefer they spread out to other forums?  |

I was banned from Stormfront after two weeks. I said that Hitler's assertions in Mein Kampf about the Jews were factually incorrect, and his hatred of them was a projection of the self hatred he felt after he failed in his efforts to become an artist and an architect. There was nothing in the Rules of Stormfront that said I could not to that, but I was banned without warning, and without explanation. 
It was an embittering experience.   |

Those are interesting questions. I enjoy discussing controversial issues. I hate flaming. However, after being hit repeatedly, I began to hit back. Even then, I like to use some finesse. If someone says to me, "The_Trouvere, you are full of s***."
I see no point in responding, "No, you are, and what is more, you are all f***** up."
