Wednesdays suck!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/6075...searchers.html
I knew it.
Quote:
Wednesday is the most miserable day of the week, claim researchers
Wednesday – not Monday – is the worst day of the week, according to research by two American applied mathematicians.
Professors Christopher Danforth and Peter Dodds, of Vermont University, analysed words used in 2.4 million internet blogs such as Twitter, giving a score out of nine depending on how positive they were.
Words like free, fun, and rainbow all scored above eight, while words such as betray, cruel, hatred and suffocate all scored less than two.
Saturday and Sunday rated predictably well but, perhaps surprisingly, Monday came out as the second happiest day of the week, partly because people were still reminiscing about the weekend. However by Wednesday, these feelings had subsided.
Professor Danforth said: "People's daily experience is being reflected somewhat in what they're saying. And this is more of a story, we think, for Twitter messages, which we've just started to pay attention to, about a year ago.

I like Wednesday. It was the day my son was born (his 11th birthday is today!)

I rather like Wednesday. For one thing, it's the day my social security check hits the bank. For another, I'm always curious as to why it's spelled that way.

Named after the German god "Woden." Bastardized into what it now is.

Woden was also a god native to the Anglo-Saxons. The Germanic origin is older and has an even weirder name; Wodnas, or something like that, if my memory serves me right.

Not too long ago, it used to be said (particularly of the English car industry) that if you want a car, get one one made on a Wednesday.
Monday, Tuesday, they are recovering from the weekend. Thursday/Friday their mind is on the next weekend.
A 'wednesday' car was the only one that was likely to work!

Well, I knew it was named after Woden, just as Thursday was named after Thor and Friday was named after Freya and Tuesday was named after Disney actress Tuesday Weld. I just wondered about the distorted spelling.
BTW, Saxons are Germans, from the region known as Saxony.

I think that's typical junk science. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Wednesdays. It focuses your eyes on Friday night and Saturday. Sunday is less fun because the next morning is Monday. Bleagh!
I think the researchers were just reading the Inter-twaddle of singles who weren't getting enough dates/sex/fun of any kind.

Maybe I'm weird. I always kind of like Wednesdays. Today just happened to be a fantastic Wednesday and it's still morning!
I had to drop/add two classes and was all set to spend the whole morning and possibly afternoon working out the logistics of profs signing papers, deans signing papers, standing in the massive line at advising. I had to stop in to the offices of the history department to get the profs office hours and the lady who runs the office hooked me up! I mean she was AMAZING! In about four minutes she had me out of one class and into the other. Told me to throw away my advising add/drop sheet and enjoy my new class! Wow. If everyone who worked in these types of positions used this much common sense, the word 'bureaucrat' wold be dropped from the dictionary. I'm still giddy with joy over it all.
Also, today for lunch (Wednesdays are GREAT lunch out days) I'm eating out with a friend to celebrate her birthday.
Wednesdays are awesome.

But what's really funny is the Germans don't use a variation of the word now. Here it's "Mittwoch," which means mid-week.

Bah! Statistics, you can find statistics to say that the pen is blue, and statistics that says its red.
A study of blogs is slightly flabbergasting to be considered to hold true to personal self-loathing trends. Anyone can juxtapose asinine words that they clearly misunderstand the affect and it can still read perfectly fine despite gross, horrific, disgusting, and bile inducing over exaggeration.
I'm having a wonderful day, if you did the math on this post, it'd probably say otherwise.
Also, spot the errors made to make a point. Hopefully there are only as many as I desired to put in.

Hi, Aimii, and welcome to Literotica and the AH in particular, although I suspect that you are somebody's Alt.
I agree with what you seem to be saying. Personally, I have always rather liked Wednesdays, certainly more than Mondays or Tuesdays.
If you have some half-baked statisticians or other junk scientists, and you give them free rein to do whatever they want with whatever source they want, they will come up with the results they want. If they happen to be correct, which they are not in this instance, it is just a coincidence.

Not to defend statistics, but that is hardly how it works. It certainly cannot say anything about your post. It can say a lot about thousands of posts.
The assumption is not that every positive word correlates with positive mood. The assumption is, quite sensibly, that many of them do, and that whatever percentage there is of ironic usage distributes itself equally through the days of the week and can thus be disregarded.
Granted, the result of the study doesn't leave one overly impressed. At least not until one starts thinking about internet and privacy. But the design of the study is perfectly sound.

Sorry, scientist guys...Twittering aside...Monday's suck!
Fats Domino didn't write and record a song called 'Blue Monday' for no reason. 'Blue Wednesday' doesn't have the same ring to it.

The Mamas and the Papas also had a song with a similar name and theme. (Monday, Monday I think.) Monday is ALWAYS portrayed in music as a gloomy and dismal day.

Yep...'Monday, Monday' was it. Johnny Cash recorded a ditty called 'Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down' that was right close to Monday in spirit.
